How formal is the wedding?
I tend to prefer short dresses, but in that color in a big church with a very fancy reception a longer dress might be more appropriate. What do your bridesmaids think?
I chose short bridesmaid dress for our outdoor August wedding. I was also planning on shortening my dress but decided I couldn't cut off so much of my gorgeous dress!!
I would go short! I would be more comfortable in August with less dress!
Traditionally, the length of the bridesmaids' dresses is determined by the time of the wedding. A wedding after six p.m. would call for a long dress, a wedding earlier in the day would call for a "street-length" dress.
ETA: I just wanted to add that I really like the dress you selected!
Thanks for the input! I personally don't care so may let the girls decide. 2 of them would prefer long, 2 I think would prefer short, but I guess we'll see when they come in! I may have to be the tie-breaker. :)
@Josina: LOL your bridesmaids sound as torn as the poll. I have a september outdoor wedding/indoor reception and am looking at the same style and color. I keep going between short and long. One reason for short is I feel my dress will stand out a bit more in the picture with the colors being similar. But because it is an evening wedding I'm leaning towards long...so I think you're safe by ordering long with the idea of maybe shortening...but my vote is for long!
Good luck deciding (or letting them decide!)
They are both really pretty! I choose shorter dresses for you because the long bridemaid dresses look too similar to your own bridal gown. The shorter length will help your dress stand out more.
I voted long. With chiffon and the style of dress (empire waist) you run a risk of a gust of wind with Marilyn Monroe action going on. I also think it'd lay better on your maid which is pregnant.
I voted short. I love both your dess and the bridesmaids' dresses! I am in complete agreement with frenchie427!
I think I would keep them long. The shape of the skirt almost looks like the shape wouldnt suit being cut, but I'm no seamstress :)
I chose short because if they are long they look really similar to your own dress. Both dresses are gorgeous, but that was my logic.
Also, how do you feel about some short and some long? That way they can choose. If not, that's cool, but just a thought.
I vote short. I had to wear a long BM dress in August once and it was AWFUL. We were all melting in it.
@AmeliaBedelia: I did consider adding a 'both' to the poll but I think I prefer that they were one or the other.
i voted long... if one of the bridesmaids is going to be 8 month pregnant i would go for the long dress.
short! very cute dresses! if theyre shorter it helps with the temperature, and it helps you stand out more, which you should cause its your day!

Below is the bridesmaids' dress I decided on, and my dress below it. We are ordering the dress long, with the possibility of going short later. It is chiffon. The wedding is in August, outside, at a winery. My question is, would you keep it long, or go short? One of the girls will be 8 months pregnant.
