What will the weather be like?  What do your BM think?  I personally like the short look but the most important thing will be your BM comfort IMO 🙂

Yikes, outside in August sounds hot! I definitely vote for short dresses! Plus, they’re honestly a lot more comfortable, and WAY cheaper – almost all long bridesmaid dresses are 30-50% more expensive than shorter ones, and there are less out there so there aren’t as many options if you go with long dresses.

Outside in August? Short for sure. You should want your bridesmaids to be comfortable.

wedding08.2015:  I preferred short for mine but they wanted long so I went with it. The wedding is in November and they’ll be warmer with the long lol. If you don’t have strong feelings one way or the other then I’d let them pick.

It’s outside in August, your BM prefer short, and short are cheaper.

I’m honestly not sure why this is remotely a debate.

No one will notice the shoes. It will be fine.

Sephiroth:  It is a debate because it is her wedding.

wedding08.2015:  It still should (first and foremost) depend on what you want, it’s your wedding. I understand they are probably paying for the dresses, but a little glance at davidsbridal.com and you will find short and long dresses in the same price range. Secondly, you did not say what part of the country or world you are located. Outside in August is not hot in EVERY part of the planet. Third, if you are trying to go with a more formal look, then the longer would typically be the way to go. Fourth, it will depend on the type of fabric that the long ones are made of. You can get some that are very light and flowly and the length will not matter.

Time of day would also make a difference, if it is 6 or 7 it will not be as hot as 2. I wore a very light and flowly chiffon dress in my brother’s wedding 5 years ago. It was made of chiffon, $150 from David’s Bridal. It is very hot in May here in SC and I survived without passing out or sweating to death.

Unless your wedding is extremely formal, I’ve always really hated long bridesmaids dresses

wedding08.2015:  Please for the love of God do NOT make your BMs wear long dresses outside in August!! The last two weddings I have been in have been long dresses outside in the middle of summer (the very last one was a BLACK BM dress in July!!). Everyone was mtioniserable and both brides were offended when the BMs changed into shorter dresses at the reception. No one will notice the BMs shoes, I promise!
