Hello, first time poster here! (:
I have decided to do a “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” gift box for my bridesmaids.
I have gotten vintage handkerchiefs with each of the girls’ monograms for the something old. The something new is a piece of jewelry. The something blue is blue lotion, nail polish, and a blue bath bomb.
I am stuck on the “something borrowed”! I had considered making a cute, fake debit card. As in “borrowing” my debit card to pay for either their hair, makeup, or nails. Then I thought that could seem kind of silly?
I had also seen where someone did “the borrowed details”. However, to me that doesn’t really seem like a gift.
Edited to Add:
I am also getting each of the girls a robe for our pictures for the morning of, a clutch with different emergency items, and small gifts that I find that are specific to each girl.

That’s a neat idea for gifts, I haven’t heard of that before.
I don’t love the debit card idea because it kind of sounds like you’re saying “I’m paying for your hair and makeup but I want you to pay me back”, because of the “borrowed” part.
Borrowed is pretty tough actually – I’m not sure what you mean by “borrowed details” – what does that include? These might be silly, but could you do something like a gift card to Netflix or something similar? My thinking would be that renting movies is like borrowing haha. Or if your girls like to read, you could give them a book that you own and like that you think they’d also like (a play on lending them a book, but getting them a new one as the gift). Hmm. Good luck!

Hmm… usually the theme you’ve chosen is for the bride, which makes this a little tough.
What if you rent them some accessories for the day from Rent the Runway or a similar service?

Maybe something recycled could work? OOOh I have a good one. Make a donation to Kiva in their name: http://www.kiva.org/ its a non profit where you lend someone money to start their own business.

Thank you all for your responses! My mom had suggested doing the debit card idea with a little note attached–“borrow my card, to help pay for your dress. So on wedding day, we’ll all look our best”
I am still undecided, but I definitely appreciate all the input! (:

Hello there! My wedding colors happen to be silver and royal blue, (royal blue is my all-time favorite color) so I decided to purchase cute silver and royal blue rhinestone jewelry sets for them to wear. Like you, I’m also putting together a small bag of essentials, like lip gloss, Dr.Scholl’s gel inserts for high heel dress shoes, and a thank-you for being my bridesmaid card. I am also paying for all of the girls to get their hair professionally done on my big day. I like your idea of something new, old, borrowed, and blue for the girls, that is very creative and unique. For the something borrowed, perhaps you can give each of them something different that is meaningful to you to hang on to in their purses for the day of the wedding: I.E, a photograph, a pair of earrings, a camera, etc.
