I know it’s been asked before but I can’t make up my mind! I am a bridesmaid in one of my best friend’s wedding in a few weeks in NYC. I already did an off-registry gift at the shower, so my question is:
– Should I get them something special (off registry) for the wedding- maybe a night at a nearby hotel or gift certificate to a nice restaurant?
– Or should I buy something off the registry and just include a nice card?

I would do on registry they have one for a reason. Since you already did off registry.

I agree with the PP. Since you already did an off registry, this gift should be from the registry.

definitely something from the registry this time

Agreed. Extra gifts are great and some more meaningful than a hand mixer. But the items from the registry are the things they need/want, and I’d get them something from there.

On- getting gifts off the registry can be a PITA. I know that sounds bad, but some places have really bad return policies.

I would go with the registry just because I am SO excited for my registry gifts. I swear I’m going to squeal with the exciting ones get opened!

PPs have a point, but if you know the couple really well and think they’re the type that would enjoy a night at a hotel more than baking supplies, then I say go with your gut. I literally added every single thing at BB&B that I liked to our registry, but I’m not totally excited about all of it, and could probably get some things for cheaper at Target. If my best friend bought us a night at a B&B she knows we love, I would probably be more excited about that. Just a thought.

I’d go on registry. Those are the item that the couple needs and wants. Honestly, I never buy off-registry gifts for weddings. The couple creates a registry for a reason.

Normally I’d say off registry, but since you did that for the shower I don’t see why not going with the registry. Just try and get something you know they really want.
