Can you give me some shopping tips?
I want to give my bridesmaids necklaces with their initial on it. I’ve fallen for this one from Things Remembered, but it gets so expensive to personalize it. Has anyone else ordered things from there? Is the special $3 font worth it?
What are some alternatives? People are always talking about Etsy, but I don’t know much about it. Would I be able to search for just what I’m looking for or would I have to flip through a million vendors to try to find it?
Thanks so much!

I love the idea of a personalized gift! I think the extra $3 is worth it, to put the girl’s initials on the necklaces. I think they will love it!
I have bought items off etsy and have been very pleased with the product and it’s very easy to navigate through the website. The woman I worked with was pleasant and the product was delivered on early!
Goodluck and Congratulations!

Anyone have experience with Things Remmbered? Is it worth it? Are the letters clear?

I like using Etsy but the search feature can be overwhelming. What is your budget? The nice thing about Etsy is that there’s a way to search for stuff within a certain price point. There is a huge variety of initial necklaces, from hand-hammered to vintage or cursive or ones with charms…

I’ve never had anything done at things remembered but my MOH gave me a snowglobe for either my bday or Christmas one year with a personal message engraved on it. LOVED IT! Etsy is great — you just basically search initial necklaces and five million things come up at various price ranges =).

I’d like to stay closer to $30 than the $46 or so those TR necklaces come to with engraving.
I’ve been looking at Etsy – there must be a million initial necklaces there. 🙂 Some are things I’ve never seen before which I like. But a lot of them are the same tiny disk with a letter stamped on it. I’m torn about spending money on something *I* think is great vs. giving them a gift card towards something *they* actually like.
My heart is set on getting them some sort of initial necklace since our names are alphabetical and I want a picture of the “KLM” necklaces when we’re getting ready. But I could get something cheaper like this Wire Letter or this Koi Fish Print (hello – koi fish!) and put the extra money towards gift cards. Rather than get the expensive necklace that I love that they might never wear.

I bought that necklace for my Jr. Bridesmaid.. I had words written in front and back. And then got a free box, engraved that. I think everything came out to $50. It came out great, and I also paid for the premium font.

I would DEFINITELY get the $3 font…..I am an avid TR buyer and I made the mistake a few times getting things engraved and not using the premium font, the engraving is very faint. I have that same necklace and I LOVE it, I did the premium Vanessa font that is my favorite! I would def check etsy though, or even the knot.com weddingshop they sometimes have really cute necklaces.

I personally think I’d wear the wire letter necklace more than the things remembered one. I like the TR one but I did hear that the swinging part of the necklace can sometimes scratch up the bottom piece that would have the engraving. Not sure if that’s true or not.

For $30+, you have a lot of options on Etsy, including ones with koi! I think I would wear an initial necklace again, but I’m a sucker for personalized anything.
There’s this one (I think the koi might be removable if your BM isn’t into koi as much as you): Handstamped with Koi Charm
or this one: SS handstamped with koi
Or maybe something cheaper like this so you can get both necklace and GC. This one is $15 and simple. Tiny Heart Necklace
I’m more of a minimalist, so I prefer these tiny charm initial necklace or small wired initial ones over the more ornate ones.

Cool! Thanks everyone. I’m getting more used to searching Etsy.

I wouldn’t get that TR necklace. Is that something that you think your bridesmaids would wear?
I think it’s a good idea to keep searching Etsy. I found some great necklaces on Etsy and opted to duplicate them myself, since I don’t feel like spending $150 for 5 necklaces that I can make myself for about $20 total.

This is what I got my bridesmaids:

I bought from this seller on etsy, something like these necklaces: http://www.etsy.com/listing/84179238/december-birthstone-necklace-turquoise?ref=exp_listing
She was easy to work with and they came very quickly! I love etsy!
