I sort of did this. I needed their shoe sizes for flip flops, favorite color for bags, silver/gold preference for jewelry, etc. So I sent around an email asking questions like that and then threw in a few random ones to throw them off.
I don't think it's over the top at all.
Here is what I am going to send the bridesmaids. Is it too much? I will write a little something before the questions.

♥ I wouldn't be caught dead in....
Any suggestions or ideas you may have are always welcome. As my friends I hope you will not let me fall victim of horrible wedding trends that I will undoubtedly regret Such as the balloon arches we are doing for the ceremony LOL just kidding!
Love that idea!! And if you ask them early, they will probably forget all about it by the time the wedding comes along.
Aw, that's so cute! Definitely not over the top. Its really thoughtful actually, it shows you care about getting them something they'll like and that they're important to you on your day.
Of course you may use it.
Only two of my bridesmaids have replied back with it so far. Which is kind of funny seeing as the other two (MOH & a BM) were telling me how one BM is unrelaible and two faced. That I shouldn't have asked her to be part of the wedding.
I am very excited about buying the BM gifts. I love buying gifts for people.
Cute! I especially like the last Q "I wouldn't be caught dead in" HAH! It made me giggle a little! I think it's really considerate too to ask their prefrences.

I kind of want to mail my bridesmaids a fun little questionnaire to find out what their favorites are. Mostly for a more personalized bridesmaids gift and maybe incorporating somethings into wedding like favorite song, candy (we are doing candy buffet), etc. Stuff like favorite color, junk food, past time, scent, etc.
If I did this would it be over the top?
