For the record – fuck the term “bridezilla.”
That being said, I think I had my bridezilla moment.
So, I ordered my table runners over 3 weeks ago. The item was in stock on the company website, which also states that all orders are processed and shipped within 24 hours. I paid for UPS ground shipping to get the item delivered within 3-7 days. Awesome – that would give me plenty of time – JUST IN CASE, I told myself. I received an electronic confirmation but no tracking info, which I thought to be a little odd.
4 days later, I received a phone call from the company telling me the item was backordered. I was a little alarmed/confused, seeing as how my order was supposed to be processed within 24 hours and yet it took them 4 days to tell me it was backordered, but I appreciated the personal phone call. I was assured that the product would be back in stock a week later, and the item delivered to me within 3 days of that. I was disappointed but I accepted this solution because I gave myself enough time to factor in these kinds of delays. They made no mention of comping me the shipping or offering faster shipping.
So I wait patiently for the week when my order is supposed to arrive and Friday comes, yet no runners. I call the company to check on the status of the order, at which time the production manager looks up my order and says they just received the product the day before and will ship it the next day. Uhhhhhhh…………..I am obviously more alarmed and express how important it is that the item be shipped the next day. I make him confirm it. It’s getting close, but I still have enough wiggle room to handle this last delay. I was supposed to receive the item today or tomorrow.
By this point though, I don’t trust these motherfuckers. So I contacted customer service via Live Chat and ask for an order update and give them my order number. The customer service representative then tells me THEY STILL HAVEN’T RECEIVED THE PRODUCT YET, AND HAVE NOT SHIPPED IT OUT. AND GEE, THEY ARE SORRY.
As you can imagine, I proceed to FLIP out and make it clear that the production manager, with whom I personally spoke over the phone the week prior, must have LIED to me when he said they had the product in hand. And that it’s already been two weeks past my original delivery date, for which I paid extra shipping.
The rep then tells me that she spoke with the production manager “and they just got the product today.” She then told me they would expedite it free of charge and I would receive it by Thursday. So I got her to repeat that I would receive the product no later than Thursday, demanded tracking information, and then saved the entire chat conservation so I have some evidence of this shit.
I was a mess for the rest of the day and shaking I was so angry. You see, the table runners are my only linen for the tables…..they are IT! And I scoured the internet for hours looking for a substitute – found nothing. Wrong lengths or exorbitant shipping to get the runners in time. My wedding is one week away and I would have to get all hands on deck to resize them.
So I just checked my email and what do you know, there’s the UPS shipping confirmation with tracking info. True to their word, I should receive them by Thursday.
I know no one gives a shit about my first world table runner problems, but DAMN.
