So I’ve just about completed my Save the Dates. I took a lot of care to make sure I was under 1 oz. and only needed to use one stamp. I’ve read the advice that you should always bring your Save the Dates and invitations directly to the post office. So when I told my Fiance this he felt I was overthinking it and I felt like I was having a bridezilla moment. Because in order for us to be able to get to the post office this week he’d need to take a break from work on Friday to drop them off (since he works from home on Fridays). That is if he wants us to ski on Saturday.
If you knew your save the dates were a standard size, weighed less than an ounce, and already put a nice stamp on them…would you still bring them to the post office? Just in case?

We brought our invitations directly to the post office. I knew they were a one stamp weight, but I figured the less “boxes” they get dropped in the prettier they would be when the guest received them.

It certainly can’t hurt–right?
We had a STD snafu, so it’s good that I brought them to the Post Office. We did a post card, but the company cut them just a hair too big, so we had to use regular stamps (instead of post card stamps) because of the dimensions.

If I were in your position, I would just drop them in the mailbox. I didn’t have a flat card, so I brought mine, but I really can’t see it making that much of a difference

I work near a post office so it was a quick car ride for me. I brought both my STD and invitations in and had them all hand-cancelled (either by me or the clerk) at the counter. If it’s not a ton of extra effort, I would just take it in. You never know.

I did because I didn’t have stamps… and then they got to people SO quickly!

You Just never know I would take them. That way you know that they are all correct and that they were sent.

@lovelyduckie: I will just for the sheer fact that it’s less carting around ina truck they have todo. and I’ll feel better seeing them go over the counter then in the box

I just put mine right in the mailbox. No problems! If you are worried though it couldn’t hurt to make the trip.

Our Save-The-Date Cards were just postcards so we just put them out for the normal mail pickup. The invitiations were dropped at the post office since they were bigger and wouldn’t have fit in the normal box.

Mine were a normal weight, but because I used a wax seal stamp, they said I needed to pay extra postage. Boy am I glad I double checked!
There’s no downside to taking them to the post office besides the inconvenience. And honestly, I’d worry sick about it the whole time. The inconvenience of worrying and stressing is much worse than the inconvenience of driving to the post office.
