@allyfally:  So sad. I feel sorry for all the kitties that get let outside during the cold too.

I completely agree with you, but the pic made me laugh.  The top left photo of the Bernese Mountain dog looks JUST like my parents dog and he is perfectly happy sleeping covered in snow.  My parents aren’t letting him do it when it’s this cold, but most of the time, that’s where he is and he refuses to come inside.

I got really mad at my aunt when I was a kid and refused to speak to her or my cousin for a month because they left their chihuahua outside all night on one of the rare occasions it snowed in lower Alabama. Then, they acted surprised that the dog had frozen to death. It’s a 2 pound dog. It’s below freezing outside. There was nothing to help keep him warm.

My mom and I are animal people. My parents have always had outside dogs and they always come in when it’s cold or we get a bad storm. My mom even leaves a heat lamp on the porch for the dog they have now so he will be warm even outside.

@allyfally:  Call your local police dept. or go and take the dog and bring it inside please. Save the animal – your neighbors are considered “neglectful” and no longer have the right to have  dog – I would walk right over there like a boss and take the dog. The End.

wish it was only -1 here, its -40 atm, I hate when people leave their dogs outside, makes me want to rescue them all, like you hear the dog barking, let it in

@allyfally:  it’s fine!  I totally get why you did it!  Its just sad because it happens all the time.

I appreciate you changing it though 🙂

My fiance knows if there is an animal in distress at anytime especially when it is this cold – the animal will be coming home with us – until either we decide to keep the animal, find it’s rightful owner – and if the owner is deemed neglectful – then we will determine what is best for the animal.

We have been in the middle of a blizzard all day, and our vet posted something on their facebook page earlier about having seen multiple dogs today who were hit by cars when out walking. We have a Bouvier who would be happy outside in the snow all day, but dogs are like children… owners have to be responsible for doing what is best for them, because they can’t take care of themselves!

You know I type anonymous letters in the dog’s voice and I tape them to the dog’s kennel so that the owner’s see them when they go out there next.  I do this at night.  Sometimes it works and they will do something different for the dog.  At least the owner know people are watching!

One guy in my culdesac left his dog in a chainlink kennel out in the sun with out any shade and hot water to drink.  It was always panting when I got home (we’re talking summer with 100 degrees).  So I bought a tarp and typed up a letter.  They were moving the whole kennel next to the house, the shady side of the house, the very next day!

I don’t like confrontations!
