I think you can just add it to your renter’s or homeowner’s insurance.  That’s what I did anyway.  Make triple sure the policy covers replacement if it’s lost too!

The jeweler should have insurance on it too while it’s in their posession but I would doubly check with your insurance company before having anything done to make sure that you would be covered with them and I would also make sure that you have a current appraisal so that way if something ~should~ happen you’re covered so that they can’t replace with something less than what you originally had. Good luck 🙂

Make sure your insurance covers if you lose the ring/diamond, get mugged, etc.; and not just if it gets damaged.

Mine is insured through Jeweler’s Mutual.  You might want to check them out.  The jewelry store paid for the first year but I think it’s around 100 bucks a year for mine.  They go off the appraisal price and the area you live in, I think.

Hey I insured mine through my home insurance (Geico/Liberty Mutual).  It was really easy, just e-mailed them a copy of the appraisal and voila! Insured!

I have Jewelers Mutual too same premium as Laura27 so not too bad. I went with them due to their recommendation on another board that I belong too and the fact that they also cover accidental loss (say you drop it in a river or something-covered)
