I’m about to buy my DF’s wedding ring as I’m in the US at the moment and I’d like to order it from e-weddingbands.com.
She wants one of these rings. They are both the same- 4mm, flat with comfort fit, and she wants a brushed finish.
However, I know she’s pretty thingy about scratches so she’ll likely want to get it polished when there are too many visible imperfections. With the brushed finish, I’m not sure which metal will be better when it comes to getting it polished- the palladium, or the gold with the rhodium plating. On one hand, I’m worried that it will be difficult to find jewellers who are comfortable to polish palladium and maintain the brushed finish, but I’m also worried that it might be difficult to maintain the finish with a rhodium coating on the white gold.
I’d love some advice on which to choose.

We ordered a palladium ring for my fh because of the way the jeweler described it. Palladium is a white metal so it will not change colors it is softer but since it is not holding any diamonds we arent worried about it.

Anyone else have any advice? Thanks hma812 for your feedback.

the one downside is that palladium cannot be resized as easily. i love that it doesn’t yellow though, and that it is very light.
i would go for the palladium one.

If she’s bothered a bit by scratches, have you considered tungsten? My DH doesn’t like scratches and we went with the tungsten from e-weddingbands because it doesn’t scratch, is quite hard, and never needs re-plating, and he absolutely loves it. The downside is that it can’t be resized, but e-weddingbands has a policy for getting new sizes because it can’t be resized. I’m afraid I can’t really help you with those metals though. My band is a polished finish white gold and I’d imagine that it’s difficult to maintain the brushed finish while getting regular re-plating and I don’t know anything about palladium.

Thanks guys. I also looked at tungsten and cobalt chrome but they didn’t have the right ring styleS. I ended up emailing the company and they suggested that palladium might maintain the brushed finish for longer, so I’ve decided to go with that. Thanks for your advice 🙂
