My fiance and I have $4,700 saved for a ceremony and reception. We have about 90 guests which we rounded to 100 people when calling around. The biggest problem is finding a place that doesn’t have a food cap of $3,000+ for the reception…We both want an outdoor ceremony and indoor or tent reception. We have found a few places, but it’s frustrating. Does anyone know of any places that have a ceremony area and a reception area where you can bring your own catering in. I believe it will cost 80% less if we are able to pay someone else to cater. Also, my family is spiritual and out of 80 people maybe 3 drink alcohol. SO I am in a delema with places who want a minimum food & drink cap of $3,000. Any good suggestions? THank you.

@KVann: I got married at a barn and it wasn’t even $2000 to rent. Maybe you will also find affordable rental prices at churches where they will let you have a reception in the basement. You could also get married in your or a close family member’s backyard if space allows.
The thing is, you’re inviting a lot of people so you’ll have to really budget your catering bill as well.
Maybe there’s a restaurant where you live where you can rent out the place? But it depends on the prices they give you. Having a wedding earlier in the day could save you money so you aren’t expected to provide dinner.
Google “A practical Wedding.” They have a lot of advice there too.

is there a lake or park you can do a ceremony at? Also, I’ve seen good ideas on pinterest and stuff where they do morning or early afternoon weddings, which saves a lot of $$ on food! I think it might be hard to find dinner for 100 people to stay within the budget and still have money for dress, decoration, ect.

@KVann: Pick up a copy of the book Bridal Bargains. It has tons of great ideas for finding a creative venue. Have you looked into local parks and garden clubs? A lot of parks have events room’s they can rent out. If you’re not serving alcohol then you may be able to find a unique venue others can’t use because they don’t allow alcohol.
