There are some threads where we did surveys of various hive members budgets. They were all over the map and varied by region, if I remember correctly.

Our's is $15-20K, but we're very early in the planning process so I'm not sure how realistic that is. My mom thinks she can get it closer to $12K, but that would involve her doing most of the planning from Chicago and I'm not sure I'm okay with that.
I dont think yours is way off at all. From what Ive seen on here, plenty of people pull off a gorgeous wedding in your price range. You just have to nail down a vision first before you get into the small details.
Our budget was originally $5000, but it was going to be a small church wedding. Now, we're getting married at a venue set on a lake and honeymoon included, it will cost us $10,000. Yikes! That hurts me, but I know some girls would consider that a bargain. It just depends, I suppose.
we are going to makeit work for 4,000-5,000 ............ a lot of diy will be involved
That budget sounds reasonable, but of course it depends on size of your guest list, what city you live in, etc. You gotta work with what you have, and there are always ways to save in certain areas so that you can stay on budget. Good luck!
Absolutely $11k. We have a very strict budget. $10k is from my parents and we are paying the $1k in fees for the site rentals for the ceremony, reception and cocktail hour.
I don't think you have anything to worry about - you can make your wedding perfectly personalized on any budget...it just depends on what your priorities are, meaning where you want to put the most money.
Ours is closer to the national average at 25K - we're presently over budget at 28K, but we're working it to try to get it back down to 25. Out of curiosity, if you don't mind sharing, how did you come to your budget bottom line?
We got to our budget number by looking at our monthly expenses & determined, based on the expenses of the past year, we can save around 2K a month & not dip into savings...25K is doable & 28K wouldn't break our banks. (we're footing the whole bill, btw)
Ours is $30,000. I'm sure we could do it for less, but we have people who will be flying in from France and London for our wedding and we feel like we need to show them a really good time.
Of course, his parents are paying for half and my parents are also contributing. If we had to pay for everything ourselves there's no way we'd be able to spend so much!
Ours will probably be given a budget of about 40k, but we'll hopefully spend about half that and take the rest for a downpayment on a house (or living expenses if we have to move to Boston).

My FI and I have been looking at wedding budgets. I know each person is different and it all depends on how much you have to spend, who is contributing, etc, but I was just wondering what other peoples budgets were to know if ours is way off one way or another, or if we are doing ok! Our budget right now is around $8000-$10000. (You don't have to share yours if you don't want!)
