Hello,
Long time lurker, second time poster here. :) Originally planned to wed in San Diego but have had a change of heart (and budget!) and decided to go with our beloved Austin, TX. We are from the DFW area but frequent Austin once a month for the last 5 years or so. We got engaged at Mt.Bonnell and thought we might as well keep the love flowing there! I was hoping some Austin locals might be able to help a girl out!
We are having a very small wedding and reception (about 40 people or so) in late April on a Thursday. We are about to book an official date at Chapel Dulcinea for the wedding but we are clueless where to hold the reception! We would ideally like to pull this whole thing off for under 5,000.00. I'm pretty crafty, so I think we can do it! Ideally, I would love a venue where we can hold the reception outside but with an inside option avaliable. Texas weather is so unpredictable! Preferably somewhere that includes tables, chairs and linens. The rest I can handle myself! Outside catering is also preferable as we are BIG TIME Trudy's fans and we're most def having stuffed avocados catered from them. :D Also, if we could bring in outside alchohol, that would be a plus. My party isn't big on drinking, but it would be cool to at least be able to bring in a few 24 packs of beer and some champagne via Costco.
I've looked into Mercury Hall, 12 oaks and The Hitchin Post. I wasn't in love with any of them particularly, mostly due to cost. I am pretty easy to please when it comes to the look of the place. If it was up to me, I'd beg the manager of Spiderhouse to let us rent the patio and have the reception there! (But I think that would give my family a heart attack! Ha!)
My other idea is to hold a restaurant reception. My mom has been trying to talk me into the Oasis (the price alone made me gag), but to be honest...i think that place is more for the view. I've never walked away from a meal there feeling like it was delicious! We prefer tex-mex food. We prefer a fun atmosphere. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for your help!!
