@MissKPreK:  Hi! Welcome and congrats on your enagement! πŸ™‚ I’d be more concerned about the stones than the silver — silver won’t tarnish if you wear it daily. The stones may get cloudy in time, though. That said, I think it would probably take more than a year!!

Sterling silver is surprisingly resilient if it’s worn constantly. My fiance has two rings he’s worn for around 15+ years (only takes them off for showers, dish washing, and swimming) and he hasn’t had to clean them. The sterling silver necklaces I wear on a regular basis don’t tarnish either. I’ve read that wiping it down with a silver polishing cloth frequently for a while will help to prevent further tarnishing.

Doe the band, here are some sites I found to keep the tarnish away while storing it:

Honestly I would say keep shopping. I found my ring at Kohls department store. It was originally 3.5k before taxes and I ended up getting it for $1100 including taxes!!!… due to some issues on their part they had to reduce the price even more to $650 including taxes. Try looking at Sams club too if you have one other than department stores. You shouldn’t skimp on the quality of your ring just because you are on a budget (and my budget is the same as yours!)

Sams Club (and Wal-Mart, too) have some nice gold and diamond rings that are of a nice quality.  They won’t be ginormous, but a smaller quality piece is better than a big piece of crap any day (IMHO).

@MissKPreK:  I think it’ll tarnish. Every single piece of silver i have owned has tarnished.

@MissKPreK:  Oh! I just had a thread similar to this yesterday! Here, let me show you a place that REALLY helped me! They have all 14k gold in either white, yellow or rose, all kinds of stones including diamonds and white topaz, which honestly is very similar to diamonds and I believe more resilient than a CZ.

Try there! Also try Walmart, too! Sterling silver will tarnish, but like some bees said, maybe not if you wear it everyday but I would worry about that band. I have had some silver rings sitting that I never even wore, but over time they tarnished just sitting in their box.
