In planning the wedding I have become hellbent on getting the best deal possible. I spend alot of time contacting vendors for quotes and waiting for items to hit clearance. I refuse to believe that something should be over priced just because its wedding related. Fiance and I are paying for this wedding ourselves so every dollar counts. I’d love to hear about your great finds and to start off I’ll share some of mine that I’m proud of 🙂
- Envelope box $17.00, found this at Winners. Very similar to an old train case, has latches and ribbon to hold the lid up, exactly what I was looking for and doubles as a memento box after the wedding
- Tea lights and Votive Holders $60, my Step-Mom found a candle manufacturer/outlet near her home. Purchased 86 6hr tea lights and 86 votive holders
- Centrepieces $66, purchased 12 @ $5.50 each, tall hanging candle holders, were filling them with baby’s breath though

I’m a huge DIY, budget bride!
– DJ/Karaoke for 6 hours – $495
-Invitations – With groupon & retailmenot promo – 150 invitations – $65 – WHOHOO!
-STDs – similar to above – 🙂
– 300 cupcakes & 8 inch cake for us – $410
-bulk burlap – $30 bucks with coupon at JoAnn Fabrics
I know there is more.. I am really picky about how and when I buy things. I am doing approximately 300 people for about $10,000. I need all the coupon/DIY I can get!

I’m not sure what budget this calls for, but I consider mine on the lower, but not extremely low side (~$10,000-$12,000)
Here’s what we got:
We spent $40 on 250 premium photo postcard STD with a groupon from vistaprint.
We spent another $40 on 100 photo Thank You cards with a groupon from vistaprint.
We are getting 150 people catered a full meal/drinks/desserts/glassware/dishware for under $2,000
We found a professional photographer who was willing to work with our budget, so we are spending $1,000 for engagment and wedding session. We get 2 photographers for day of wedding, and he has a TON of experience/teaches photography classes
(This isn’t as good of a deal) but our DJ will be $600
Our venue cut off $1,000 from rental because we almost went with another.
Oh and my dress was only $350!!!!!!
All in all, VERY sucessful, and VERY happy to be staying within our budget.

@Future_Ms.Bostonceltics: Here was our trick…we didn’t use a catering company! After checking dozens out, we realized their prices and fees were ridiculous. So my Fiance had the wonderful idea of contacting a local bbq restaurant. They already had a catering menu that was reasonably priced, and they didn’t upcharge us because it was a wedding. They just added up each item we bought based on the quantity we needed, added a delivery charge (it’s a decent drive) and that was that! Then they offered to let us pay them to bring extra servers for only like $10/hour and they offered to take care of ALL of our glassware/dishware rentals for way lower than we’d pay at a rental place on our own. Keep looking! You can find it. I’d highly recommend local restaurants that already do catering but don’t speficially do weddings. I thought food was a lost cause, but my Fiance saved the day on this one. What a great man 🙂

I had a legal ceremony at City Hall a few weeks ago. For my flowers I went to a florist close by who normally charges $150 for a bouquet. I told them I had a $50 budget for my bouquet. They created a beautiful bouquet of white roses and cream mini calla lillies with a purple center. They were beautiful.
My dress was $220 down from $770 – gotta love winter sales!

I wasn’t a budget budget bride but used the internet alot to save where I could. My biggest saving was on my drees. In the Australia stores it would of cost me $2250 but I found the designer and ordered it online from the US for only $1200 winning 🙂
