my splurg would be opting for the limo to transport our guests...haven't decided on that yet though:)
We want to splurge on photography and entertainment. Let's face it the pictures are the only thing left after the wedding. And the entertainment is what the guests remember the most
We splurged on our photographer, and worth it! Also, we were never going to have a DJ, but decided last min to get one, so that little splurge was 100% worth it, because he helped everything run smoothly.
@The immigrant bride Exactly! That's been my mantra about pics "Let's face it the pictures are the only thing left after the wedding." Other than the marriage of course. LOL
I planned on our splurge being photography but it turned out that the photog we fell in love with came in under our budget.
I started off thinking I would get a lower-end bridal gown & refused to spend more than $1,200- $1,500 total. But I ended up falling in love with 2 Alvina Valenta gowns. Everything else looked blah in comparison, so unless I find a sample or used I think I kinda screwed myself.
were also splurging on photography & entertainment! We want beautiful pics and our guests to have a great time!
Just thought I should mention that photography would have been a splurge for us, had we not been able to work out a barter with our photographer. We did yardwork and other odd-jobs for them over the course of a couple of weekends and in return got a full photography package (it did help that our wedding was on a Friday night).
Photography and ceremony musicians... and quite possibly venue if we change venues! But we found great deals on everything else not to mention I'm making the paper goods... so yeah I feel great about it!
I'm not sure if I'm considered a budget bride since my budget is $20,000...but I still consider myself one because my venue was the biggest splurge, and therefore I have been very budget conscious about all other aspects of the wedding.
Photography was our splurge together. Hair and make-up was my own splurge :) I went with a higher-end stylist and make-up artist, and I paid extra to have them come to the hotel. It was important to me to not have myself and my ladies running around in a car all morning, so I decided to splurge on the gift of relaxation that day :) It was worth every penny.
@Tulip, anyone who has to constantly make budget minded decisions is a budget bride in my book. :)
@ Tulip - me too! my budget definitely doesn't fit into the 'budget' category, but i'm having 250 people at a wedding in philadelphia, so it's impossilbe not to spend a certain amount of money.... and i completely splurged on the venue - it's about 70% of our budget (yikes!) i think i can make it work because we're getting amazing deals on everything else. hopefully the place is worth it (but i think it will be)!
Well I'm going to say rented table linens/chair covers... because it's an expense that is in no way needed.... but I want them.
My budget is $8000 and my splurge was my dress.
dress + alterations + accesories = $1100!
Maybe I can sell it afterwards and make up some of the money ;)
@jbsgirl - Yeah I totally know what you mean. It's expensive to have a wedding in Philly and the venue was the most important thing for me. I think ours also takes up about 70% of our budget, but I've been doing good on keeping costs down on other things

A variation of the splurge question, for people that were/are watching their pennies, what did you decide was worth not trying to save on.
For us, we (really I) splurged on 1 thing, hair for my girls and hair/makeup for me. In comparison my MUA/hair person cost more than my officiant, DJ, or the cost of all of my centerpieces. Heck she was over half the cost of alcohol the night of the cremony dnner. I look at photos though, and she was worth every darn penny. :)
