I am trying to stay within my budget and I just can not justify spending over 1000 dollars for a dress. I was wondering if any Bees could show me their dresses and tell me how much they paid for them!
I am going wedding dress shopping tomorrow and I am going to a family owned store who has designers like Casablanca, Allure and Essence of Austrailia. I wouldn't mind going to Davids Bridal but my mom wants me to have the "bridal expierience."
Thank you!
you should def see if they have some Mori Lee dresses there. Most of her dresses are way under 1000 and so beautiful!
My mom has all the photos, but my Mori Lee dress was only like $600. I tried on some Essence of Australia gowns that were really nice too, just not "the one". And I hated David's Bridal lol.
$700 at dolly couture plus $50 for shipping

I did go the David's Bridal route... got my dress, slip, bra, & veil for $750 total!
@LadyBear: Did you have a good experience? Someone told me the fabric isn't the best but that is where I want to go (:
Mine is from Davids Bridal, bought it for $950, but it's currently on sale for $800.

My dress is Mori Lee.....$860 and some change with taxes....$765 for the dress.

Try going to a warehouse type store. These stores purchase sample dresses from other bridal stores that go out of business. I got a Pronovias dress for $450! It's last years style but who would even know / care about that. The place I went to was called Perfect Fit and was located in Michigan. I am not sure if it is a chain or not, but I am sure they have similar stores near you.
My DB dress was only $450 as well. My consultant asked my budget and I wasn't sure what to say. Then she told me their most expensive dress was $1100, so I said "Anything in the store". LOL.

$599 for a sample. I haven't had alterations done yet, but that and the bustling should only add another $150. It's Alfred Sung. Yay sample sales!!! There's way more fullness normally- it had been in a bag for 3 months.

@auburnfan009: Aw thank you :) It's an Oleg Cassini, CWG365. Mine is champagne with an ivory overlay. I honestly didn't know what to expect when I went into DB, but my consultant was AMAZING and he had this one picked out first for me. It was the last one I tried on and it made one of my bridesmaids cry, so I bought it right there!
Prices also vary by location. Depending on location you can get some Maggie Sottero gowns for under $1000. I live in West Palm Beach fl got a quote for $1,050 but I know another bride on here that got hers for $900. So if its worth it I may look to order out of state and then have alterations done locally. Just an idea for brides on a budget.
See about purchasing a sample if you're stuck on a designer. I scored my Casablanca at well under $1K as a sample, and it was in pretty good shape.
The dresses I tried on at DB were lovely and awesome, but I felt a lot more support under the casablanca dresses I tried on. This isn't to knock DB dresses, or the other "boutique" designer dresses that I felt the same way about, it's just what I found I was comfortable in.
@auburnfan009: There was a similar thread recently with lots of pics!

Someone else mentioned looking for a sample in a slightly more expensive designer...I also want to add preowned to the suggestion! I got my Maggie Ambrosia on ebay for $900 (The girl said it cost her $2300). It just needs cleaned and maybe slight alterations!
This is my allure dress that I got for $850 and I got an almost $200 veil for free when I bought it.
My sister got her Jasmine wedding dress for....wait for it....SEVENTY DOLLARS.
By buying it at the Salvation Army.

Fits like a glove. The only alterations it needs are tightening up the straps.
You never know about places like Salval, you could be surprised! (My sister has always been really, really thrifty, so it wasn't surprising to the family when she found this. My outfit, on the other hand, cost over 2K...
)
I am so happy to see these posts ! It makes me feel good to know there are amazing dresses tat dont cost a fortune ! Thank you all for sharing :)
Ladies thank you so much! I have an apt with Davids Bridal tomorrow too (:
I went out with the same budget as you. Casablanca and Allure have some that will be under a $1000. The Casablanca I considered was only $840. But the most dresses I found by a designer that were under a $1000 that I liked was Mori Lee. She has a lot of great dresses at a great prices. The one I almost bought was $699. Sadly though I went out of my budget when I fell in love with my Maggie dress (thankfully only a few hundred dollars over). So good luck, there are plenty of gorgeous gowns out there that are under your budget.
My dress was $600 w/a discount bringing my total to $500! I don't have pics right now, but it's Mori Lee also. I love LOVE Mori Lee gowns!!
mine is a demetrios. i paid $932 for it. i think it was marked like $1080 or something, but they knocked off 15% and threw in free alterations if i paid in full that night. no sales tax...there's no sales tax on clothing in MN. (w00t!) it was a real score for me, since this dress is closer to perfect than i thought i'd ever get (although not quite...i would have preferred a satin gown witha slightly different back, but a blue dress was more important than that), and i wanted to keep it less than $1K including alterations.
i think the taffeta and satin gowns from this line come in white, ivory, platinum, gold (which i think is more like what most lines call "champagne"), a pale pink color, and grey-blue (the color i got).
model pic...i'm dispensing with the goofy jacket and the pinned-on roses at the hip. i'm also debating whether or not to leave the skirt as is, or remove most of the crinny, slim the skirt, and shorten the train to more of a sweep train rather than the current chapel train.

in blue, on me (excuse the wrinkles, it was fresh from the bag):
Mine is preowned. I got it for $500 and the seller originally paid 1200 + alterations for it (she also paid 150 to have it professionally dry cleaned and preserved).
$620 with alterations from DB
@Minutiae: That's awesome! I would totally wear a dress from the SalVal but am def not as lucky in finding deals and she is ;)
Maggie Sottero Anniston $889... I am inlove iwth sorry I dont have nay pics of me actually in it

@thennic: This dress is so gorgeous on you, and I LOVE the pockets!
I got my dress for $60 shipped and I'm completely in love with it. I am not super picky about dresses, though, which helps when bargain shopping--I think i could be equally happy in a dozen different dresses.
