Have you tried any local prom stores in the mall? Sometimes they have great discounts when it's not prom season. Maybe you could find something cheaper after Thanksgiving.

I was a bridesmaid in 2 weddings this cringed at buying 2 $140 dresses. (I even bought them on the same day) So I wanted to find something more affordable for my BMs. I've been searching department store websites and Jcrew sales, but couldn't find anything I liked in the sizes I needed. Then I wondered onto the Target website looking for a sundress for me (I live in Texas, I can wear a sundress any day but Christmas) They have a wedding & parties section and woohoo I found perfect grey bridesmaid dresses. The best part they are $40 and returnable to store if they don't work. I ordered 2 different styles to test out, kept one for a bridesmaid, & returned the other.
