We still haven't booked a honeymoon. We are looking for something for under 1000$ for about a week, coming from SFO or SJC. Anyone have any ideas? We're thinking Mexico...

How about somewhere in the US?  Also, have you checked travelzoo?  They have some great trips to Hawaii within your budget...

What about Las Vegas? It's a lot of fun and would fit within your budget.

Vegas. Do it and don't look back....awesome hotels, food, entertainment, etc.

In fact, if you're flying out of SFO, VirginAmerica is running a faresale right now that would get you BOTH there r/t for ~$250 TOTAL including taxes, etc. Possibly even less.

You won't need a car once you get there, so that's not an expense to worry about....you can walk most places (or if you're going way up/down strip, can cab it for $10ish...or ride the deuce!) Food + entertainment can be had for cheap as well; judging by your wedding date, there's a chance you may even be out there for restaurant week. It's AWESOME and a lot of places participate. (If you want an awesome dinner, hit up Prime @ Bellagio--best.steak.EVAR...came to $120 w/ tip+tax+wine flites for both of us + an extra app + the price fixe....easily a $300+ meal any other weak of the year!)

As for hotels, 7 nights for ~$100-110/night should be totally doable. Figure out what part of town you want to stay in and figure out what hotels are in your price range +/- 20%. Then sign up for all of their e-mail list servs....if you book 60-90 days out, you can often save a bit (20-30%) of the rack rate.

After you make the reservation, contact the conceirge and let them know that you're coming out on your honeymoon and ask what options you have to make it special...ask what a room upgrade would run you, if they offer any special packages, etc....and you might get lucky and score a room upgrade.

We did all of the above when we went out there and scored a $200/night room at the Bellagio for $135/night (basically the king room without a view)...but after talking to the conceirge to line up a dinner reservation and asking what a room upgrade would cost, was gifted one for free. We ended up going from a room overlooking the highway to one on the 24th floor overlooking the lake! Needless to say, it was awesome....

If you have any questions, pop back in this thread...I loved my trip there and would be happy to help you plan yours!

If you're looking at Mexico you'll definitely find great deals in Cancun. You don't say when you're planning to go on HM but definitely check out the Golden Parnassus - we got a great deal there a couple of years ago plus it's all-inclusive so you know you'll stick to your budget!!

Thanks everyone! I mentioned Vegas to my fiance a few times but he really didn't want to go there. We finally booked a week in a Cabo resort. My fiance's brother offered to let us use their timeshare for cheap. Yay!! Thanks again for your help and suggestions.
