    Good Afternoon Ladies:

Today I sent out an e-mail to a vendor for quote for a Day of Coordinator. She was excited to give me the quote but some of the questions she asked me I thought were a little beond what she needed to know, especially what is MY TOTAL WEDDING BUDGET.

Have any of you ever been asked b a vendor what your total wedding budget is?? I would expect this if I was asking her to be my wedding planner but not just for DOC services.

    Is this normal????

@Miss Bowling: I don't know why a DOC would ask, but some full on wedding planners charge you a percentage of your total wedding budget instead of a flat rate.

@Miss Tattoo: That's what I thought, I gave her the information and I am waiting to see the quote she gives, I just found another DOC on Weddingbee who is offering a special of $400 for DOC services so I'm going to keep looking and doing my research.

or she could've been trying to get a feel for what kind of wedding you're having...a really high end event or a more casual event, or maybe a guess at how large the event will be....

some brides who are spending more money can be more "high maintenance" and have demanding family, so maybe that's why she asked? Personally, I wouldn't feel offended by the question, but if it bothers your maybe you should try to find someone else...

@Miss Bowling: I have heard of them asking because they dont charge a flat fee but see what she says.

i had only one of my potential DOC's ask what our total budget was. if someone is doing full on planning, then they tend to ask a percentage of your budget. but most DOC's just charge a flat fee regardless of your budget.

I'm an event planner and I have never asked for a budget when doing day only services.. that seems a little odd to me.

If she's just a DOC, she doesn't need to know; unless it's for imperical data purposes. If she's providing referrals for vendors, then, yes, she should know.
