Hi all – I got engaged a few weeks ago and have never put much thought into a wedding. That said, I’m looking to spend around $50 per person (would love it if it could be less) in either NYC or the surrounding burroughs. I know this might be completely unattainable, just wanted to see if it’s possible by any chance.
Also – any ideas of places to hold the ceremony are welcome!

How many people do you want to invite and do you want to provide a full meal or would you be willing to just offer afternoon or evening canapes? Open or cash bar? Is that budget just for the reception or for the ceremony as well? Would you hold both in the same place or do you want separate venues?

I’d say around 50 people. I’d like to do a full meal if possible. As far as bar goes, not sure. Is it rude to do a cash bar? lol
Budget is for both – I can do both in the same venue or separate.

These links might be useful!
We’re doing ours relatively informally since we’re having a big ceremony overseas next year. Basically, we have a friend who lives in a swanky apartment building with a lovely open air rooftop and side room that we can hire out for about $75 an hour, then we will cater it ourselves and get help with catering and serving from TaskRabbit. Plenty of buildings have something like this so it is worth asking around. We’ll probably do the ceremony at city hall or in a park. Our main budget is going on food, alcohol and photography ($1000 for two hours, but the guy is amazing and that should cover our ceremony and portraits afterwards).
Hope that helps! 🙂
