Congrats! We haven't figured tax returns into our budget, so we're hoping to have a nice surprise once we file!

I received a magazine in the mail this past weekend and thought about you. I don't remember signing up for it, but I was going through it and on page 75 is a "translating the trends" page with a bunch of items with chandeliers on them. It is the Spring 2010 issue of get married.
Congrats. Awesome news on all fronts. I dread tax season, self-employed and income has been increasing, which is good, but at tax time I pay.... a lot! :(

Congrats! We have no idea what our refund will look like this year- newly married, 1 unemployed :( , 2 mortgage,s but I'm hoping we too are surprised with a big return, glad yours was a good surprise!

I'm sooo happy!! We could afford the wedding without the returns and without mom's contribution (our budget is less than 5k). With everything though it makes me breathe a lot easier and it will definitely put a cushion in our savings account..
AND mom loves the bridesmaid dresses and the dress I like for her..
@2010: i'm self employed as well, but i worked for another company for a bit of time and actually didn't take any clients then, only a lot of promo items.
@Cre...then enjoy this year!! Hopefully you'll have tons of clients this year! Sounds like 2010 is going to be YOUR year!
I'm so jealous of all these people that can file already! All we have so far is one W2!
@MissAsB...you beat me to the punch. I was just about to say that I don't have W-2 or tax forms from my mortgage holder so I won't be filing anytime soon.

congrats crebre! just outta curiosity, how are you having a sub-5k budget including photography? noticed from your blog you booked fola adewole...do you have some kind of personal or business relationship with her?
@malaika: she has an a la carte menu that you can choose from. My wedding is also EXTREMELY small, about 60 guests at the most. I am also having my wedding on a Thursday during the day which allowed me to save A LOT of money elsewhere. But photography was DEFINITELY a large chunk of my wedding.
@everyone: i'm soo happy to file, i was semi stressed out about everything because the numbers weren't adding up even though i am still on a budget i'm coming in on the higher end of what we wanted to spend, so the extra money was awesome!!
@belle: i know right?! i'm sooo excited and relaxed and i have quite a few promotion things that will have to be taken care of (a huge show in feb as well as a some advertising)

Awhh Creb! What an amazing way to start your new year! You're so smart to put that money into savings instead of increasing your wedding budget! Congrats girlie!!!
@myra: lol well not "all" of it will go into savings lol!! i will invest in my business with a portion of it, but that always pays back because i'll advertise get more ads printed etc. and honestly my budget did increase by the amount my mom said she'd pay, but that still puts us paying the same amount of money roughly and the budget number that I have is still extremely high, I added EVERYTHING i wanted included calligraphy, OOT gift bags, etc and still came in okay. A lot of it has to do with the fact that I have a lot of the things already decor-wise and I saved with those nifty STDs lol!

Mom just let me know that she wants to pay for the venue and possibly something else!!!
AND I filed my taxes and am getting back MUCH more than I expected (gotta love new businesses!!) We are waiting for M to file his taxes to get final budget numbers etc, but it's looking really really good!!!! It doesn't really affect what I wanted my budget to be or anything like that it just relaxes me a LOT more and will put a small amount into savings!! YAY us...
