If it were me, I would charge it and then pay if off with wedding gifts.

@xoxovmarie:  Can either of you apply for an interest free credit card, I know they do offers for like a year without interest. THis way you aren’t paying more and you can pay it off with the wedding gifts. Or if last minute your dad gives you the money.

Just a thought – if there really is no other way, I’d open a new credit card with no annual fees and 0% APR for 15-18 months (sometimes you can even get a couple hundred as a sign up bonus). At least you wouldn’t be paying interest on it, like if you were to charge it to your existing cards.

@xoxovmarie:  Do you feel comfortable bringing it up to your father? If he made the offer I’m sure he meant it. He’s just probably not thinking about it yet. Just try to bring it up casually like “Oh hey do you remember when you said you wanted to pay some of the final bills? They are starting to come due now, if you still wanted to do that.” Then he is either reminded and he writes a check, or he says he can’t anymore and you have time to figure out another option.

Just do it asap. It could be you’re worrying over something that could be fixed with a quick conversation.

I’d ask him about it really casually, and if he doesn’t have it, no big! Then put it on your cards and pay it off with wedding gifts after the wedding.
