I just had them done last weekend :) Best decision ever! It'll be a wedding gift for my FI. My photog is also my wedding photog so I was able to trade this session with e-pics. A session with her usually lasts about 2-3 hours and she suggested 3 outfits max.
I was very nervous going in but she made me feel so comfortable, very professional and what I was really thankful for was that she was very instructional - she placed each arm, hand formation, strands of my hair for a perfect picture. She also had fun props like feathered fans and boas, they turned out so good rather than cheesy (what I was afraid of), they just made pics look very interesting.
My advice is to get your makeup done, I also got my hair done (sexy bedroom hair) and get an outfit in red. It really pops in pics beautifully.
I did them and loved them! My FI loved them too. I chose a studio that specializes in this. I prepared by going on a low sodium diet (maybe 500 mg a day) in order to slim down the bloat and cellulite. I also got a spray tan. It was subtle enough to show up in pictures without being obvious. It makes a HUGE difference. I couldn't believe how taut my mid section looked. The light reflected off me better and I didn't look bloated in my pics. A low salt diet is so hard, though. I literally ate chicken and veggies with things like curry and cumin and other seasonings for a week. Plain oatmeal, etc. But so worth it. My photographer was a spunky, young female. Very, "girl i've seen it all!" and I could wear as little or as much as I wanted. She really made me feel totally ok with prancing around in my skivvies and the fact that she would adjust things for me. I had to hold poses while she adjusted my clothes or stuff like that.
I brought 3 outfits. A black and red lacey teddy skirt thing with thigh highs and heels. Very racy, but covered up. Then, a white bustier from Fredericks with matching thong. Very bridal. Finally, a cute pink and mauve bra and panty set I found on sale at Nordstrom for like $20. For the very end, I went topless and just had cute frilly undies on. I wasn't naked in any of my shots, but i had my arms crossed over my chest, or was laying on my stomach, etc. She got a lot of face shots that turned out great and showed pieces of my shoulder or back, but not a full body shot.
My photographer artfully crossed my legs and arms into a pose and photoshopped out a smidge of my undies for a really cool shot. I'd be willing to share if you're interested. Mine turned out great. I even showed them to my mom! They were more of the classy pin-up style, nothing too nakey-in-your-face. She draped tulles and other flowy things around me, had props like chairs for me to lean on, etc etc. I thought it was going to be a weird thing, but it was the most fun I've ever had! I relaxed, and i got really great shots. I had 30 feasible frames (after cutting out the ones that i blinked in, etc) and I had to keep 20 of them.
They did my hair AND makeup for me, too. It looked like a lot of makeup at first (they used the high def liquid stuff), but it turned out beautifully in photos, as did my hair.
LoL, that's what I told myself!!! I'm 22, and this is the best it's ever going to be, hahahaha. It only starts to go downhill, right?
I am going to be doing them for my FI also as a wedding gift (which he won't get until AFTER the wedding), so I like the positive comments about getting budoir photos done.
I am going to get them done for my FI this summer. I LOVE the photographer who is doing them--she shot me 12 years ago, and it was such a great experience I can't wait to do it again.
I am a hair/makeup artist here in L.A. and work with her on pinup/boudoir shoots. From experience I can tell you that every single client we have ever had has been THRILLED. I think it is such an empowering thing for a woman to do at any stage in her life (especially with good hair and makeup) And if you get a good photographer she will guide you through the process and make you feel really comfortable.
HIGHLY recommend Rae Leytham!!!
I did a boudoir session with her and loved it! She and her husband were proessional but also very at ease. It was in their home and I would very much recommend that! It made it comfortable and homey and it didn't have to be in a hotel room. They adjusted the temp to make me comfortable and offered wine and sangria. (I recommend it to take the edge off the nerves.) I thought it might be weird with her husband taking the photos but it wasnt at all. I spent most of the time laughing!
I gave an album of the photos to my husband on our wedding day "for his eyes only". I gotta tell you - He is SOO glad I did!!

I'm fairly certain that I'm going to have budoir photos done for my FH before the wedding. I'm really nervous to do it, but I know that he'd like it and would never expect it because I can be so shy. I think it would also help me to raise my self-esteem when it comes to feeling sexy. I've always been a tomboy of sorts and never think of myself as feminine and sexy...
Has anyone had a photo shoot like this? How did you prepare for it?Was it awkwardHow many outfits did you bring? Help!
