You're a brave woman!
I don't know that I'd be down with putting my "before" pictures on the internet, but I will join you on your quest to fitness. I used to be a runner and have let it go because of the sucky WI winters that I have to deal with. This year I have resolved to take running up again this spring and buy a treadmill in the fall so I can keep my fitness level up. We'll see how that goes!
(btw, I clicked over to your blog and I love it! I commented over there, too -- just so you wouldn't think I was a stalker!)
Haha, I realized that nobody would share their "before" pictures when this post sat for so long with no responses. That's okay! I'll still share my story on my blog! :)
*deep breath* Okay, bees...I'll do it I WILL DO IT.
Posted here is my before picture. I am 5'9", and this is my before picture at 223lbs. Yikes. Since this picture last summer, my father was told by his doctor that he needed to lose 60lbs...aaaaaaaaaaand he has! We are so proud of him! In support of his effort to give up ice cream and sausage, I went on the same diabetic diet that he did. Currently, I am at 198 after having lost 25lbs. I don't have a current picture, but I am happy to report that my size 16 pants are all falling off of me!
My goal is to get to 165lbs by September and 145lbs by September 18, 2010 (aka, our wedding date!). So....33-53lbs to go. After the first 20 lbs, it doesn't seem so daunting. I'll keep y'all posted. ;-)
here's a link to my diet blog with my before and current pics. :)

I really do need to update though, as I'm down 21 pounds and not just 14 as those pics are at. :D
So three years ago my Grandpa died and I consoled myself with food. I managed to lose the weight, and then my other Grandpa died within the year, so the pounds came back. After that, I committed myself to trying to get down to my freshman year weight (I avoided the freshman fifteen, but after that, there was no controlling it.) I lost 30 pounds and then injured myself so 10 came back. I'm trying to re-lose those ten, because I was pretty happy at 140.
The first shot is a picture from 3 years ago, and the latest one is at the running of the brides in April. I didn't buy this dress (although it was very flattering, and the one I bought is a little small - so I'm trying to lose the weight so I can save the cost of altering it :-p.
I have a before pic of me in my wedding dress, and i can't wait to take an after pic! I'll be trying my dress on when my mom comes in town in a month for my shower, though, so i'll be posting back again then. I think it's a subtle difference because i haven't lost a lot of weight, but i've toned up a lot. Can't wait!
Oh wow. I guess I love the hive because I'm going to post one of the most god awful pictures ever. I'm 5'10 and was around 198 when the first before pic was taken. The heaviest I've ever been. In college I was around 140-150 and was happy with that weight given my height. Then after college I began gaining weight. Too much drinking, anyone? So, back in November I decided that I definitely needed to lose weight. I hated how I looked in pictures and felt in clothes. Since then I've lost about 25 pounds. I still don't like to take pictures so that's why the majority of my pics are from the boobs up. Still I think you can see the results just by looking at my face. It's crazy. I still want to lose about 15 to 20 more pounds. I'm around 175 now and think that 160 would be a healthy weight to be at. So without further ado....fat face pic from last summer...and not so fat face pic from a few weeks ago. Please excuse my hilly billy looking man...he'd spent the day at the river fishing...cut off sleeves are not his wardrobe staple.
Wiglet...loved your half-marthon 82 day post. loved it!!!
and congratulations on the run, that looks seriously beautiful.
Where are after pictures?
I was never fat, but I was 5'2 and around 130 lbs. I tend to gain weight evenly all over my body, even in the face, as the before pic shows.
Over the last two years, I've slowly lost about 17 lbs. I feel good, and I still have some curves to show off.
ferris wheel - were about the same body shape etc. I am 5' and 135 right now. I hope to loose quite a bit of weight...
or at least tone my upper body for my strapless dress for my wedding in Aug - sigh...I have to get off my a$$ and do something I have 3 months left and done nothing yet!
This is great inspiration. I was just lamenting not wanting to workout tonight. But I'd love to have some great "after" photos to share! :)
great inspiration. i have 29 days to go and... i can't fit in my dress :(
i'm 5'3" and 130lbs but recently developed a jelly belly and thicker thighs...
i just picked up the 30 day Shred DVD ystday and have started packing my own healthy breakfast/lunch to take to work. SIGH!
thanks for sharing, ladies!
Well, started out at 291 this October and am down to 215 right now. I still have 50 pounds to lose total, but my goal was to lose 100 pounds by the wedding, so I have 24 pounds left to lose by September 25. The more current photo was taken about a month ago...unfortunately, it's the most recent photo I've got.
@beachwedding -- you look great! I love how dedicated you are, it shows, seriously. How did you go about such a significant weight loss?
I drink a gallon of water a day, work out three times a week, and eat two meal replacements (protein shakes) a day and have a "sensible" low fat low carb dinner. It's been working, so I plan to keep with it. Thanks, GaBGal! I'm discouraged because I can still wear some of the same clothes I was in a year ago despite having lost 76 pounds. I went from a 22/24 to a size 18. I'm stubborn...I just wish I was in smaller clothes NOW! LOL
BeachWedding you look great!!! And I know what you mean about the size and the same clothes...I lost about 45 lbs...I was 245 and now Im 200...and Ive only gone down to a size 16 sometimes I can fit a 14 but i can still wear my size 18 pants...but I do feel better and see the difference in my face ....but I still would like to lose more weight...one thing I feel great about is that my wedding dress is a size 14!! But I have to keep up the exercising...need to eat a little better too. Congrats BeachWedding! The pic of me in the Steelers shirt is from 2005 and the other pic I took this week. :)
Wow, D. Marie! I remember that pic from a post you started about how you should style your hair for your wedding, if I'm not mistaken. You look fantastic. I had a public speaking professor in undergrad who ALWAYS told us that we were our own worst enemy and that we needed to fire the critic in the back of our heads. I will extend that to all of you bees in your weight loss endeavors. We are definitely too hard on ourselves. Congrats to everyone--this is such a wonderful accomplishment!
D. Marie, I love your haircut, by the way.
Here is my before and after. The one on the left is at my first gown fitting and the after is about 5 months later at my wedding. I think I lost about 10 pounds in between. I have shoulder blades in the after photo! lol
Thanks BeachWedding! Yeah I posted that about my hair because I liked it up in that photo which is from my MOH's wedding from 2005...and thanks about my new haircut! And like you said congrats to everyone! :)
Congrats ladies!! Wow, how impressive the results are in relatively short amount of time. What did you find worked for you? I am about 130-133lbs but I carry a lot more than I'd like in the bottom/things. Any tips?! I have 1 year to work on this. I would love to tone up this area, as my top half is considerably smaller and defined naturally.
Thank you!
snmcdowell!!!*** wow that is very impressive! CONGRATS TO EVERYONE!!! As mentioned before I was sitting here at my computer at work thinking of excuses to not workout tonight even for 15 minutes but I have found new inspiration!!! YAY!!
I LUV LUV LUV before and after photos! This post is fun! I've posted my "before", and I'm about half way to my goal. When I get to my goal, I'll repost with my "after" pic!
wow great pics, congrats to beachwedding, ferris wheel and DMarie
everyone looks so fab!
So impressive! My FI was just sitting next to me saying "WOW" as I scrolled through the pictures. Way to go girls!
To Sparklez - I've been working hard on my lower half because I'm like you - my top half is naturally toned, but my legs definitely aren't! Can I blame genetics? I've been doing a LOT of squats and lunges with 8-12 pound dumbells on each arm. Sometimes I do them onto a step, sometimes I just do them on the floor. The higher the step, the better. My booty has perked up quite a bit after a few months of this. I devote one day per week to legs and butt and I try to run a few days per week, too.
Thank you so much for your tips Ferris Wheel. Congrats on your success to date, as it sounds like the effort is really paying off. Here's to following in the footsteps of tried & true success!!

Hi hive,
I'm at the five-month mark for my wedding and I'm gettin' serious about working out. The desperate need to trim up is something I know a lot of brides experience, so I'm wondering if we can join virtual forces - how are you guys tracking your progress? I took before pictures and put them on my blog (you can see them here: http://iamthebeholder.wordpress.com/2009/03/06/before-pictures/ because I can't figure out how to upload!).
I don't know if I'm ready to put my more detailed "before" pictures on the Internet, but have any of you, and would you be willing to share? Let's band together as we get hot bods! (p.s. Miss Meatball, your posts have been such an inspiration!)
xoxo
