I've heard good things about it, but personally I do better with videos! Have you done 30 Day Shred or P90X?
I've never tried it or heard much about it, but I have to say that the idea of that book makes me hate the Wedding Industrial Complex. Why does a woman need a special bridal weight loss book? So that the WIC can convince us that we need to buy it!
Sorry. End rant.
Haha, I totally accept your rant. Add the word 'bridal' and the price increases by 50%! And I have the 30 Day Shred dvd but haven't tried it yet - I'll give it a shot and see what happens. I think it'll be more my style anyhow. Thanks for the input!
I also have the 30 day shred but haven't tried it yet. Gah, I'm so lazy!
And you're right, the term "bridal" always increases the price. Sigh.
I love the Shred (not while I'm doing it, haha.) just make sure you do it every day! I'm already seeing results, and I'm on day 9.
Yes yes yes! http://www.weddingbee.com/2010/01/28/wait-i-am-a-buff-bride/ (before and after from five weeks of Buff Brides workout). :)
Anyway, the book is super cheap, so the WIC isn't getting much out of it, and I bought it with no thought of my own wedding in mind. ;) It makes sense to direct at brides because it's time limited (although I plan to just repeat it from Day 1 when I finish), and because wedding planning motivates most women to lose weight like pretty much nothing else does.
I'm doing the shred too. @lilyfaith how do you do it every day? My FI who's way more of an athlete than me told me not to do it everyday because I'm in such pain the next day. I'm mixing it up with straight cardio.
Wow, thanks Miss Spaniel! Nice results! Did you need any extra materials (hand weights, steps, stretchy bands) or anything?
@ danadelphia - I know. Something about the winter makes me so much more willing to curl up on the couch in front of the tv. I keep telling myself I'll start - as soon as Jillian Michaels starts scaring the heck out of me.
Another FREE method is getting a workout buddy! I have a gym at my apartment complex, but I was just too lazy or found too many reasons to NOT go to the gym. Now that I have to meet a friend (mother of a two-year-old, no less), I have NO excuse to not go...if she can get a sitter & make the time to meet me, I sure as hell should be there. And I didn't have to "waste" a cent!
@redsmarties: Yes. I bought the Reebok SpeedPac dumbbells to start with (2.5, 5, 7.5, 10, and 12.5 pounds), an exercise/balance ball, and a step (a step can double as a bench). I'm using heavier weights now so I bought some individual ones as well, but I hate going to the gym so much that it was worth the investment in equipment.
Oh! And I forgot ankle weights. I don't think you need them in the first two weeks, though, but 3-5 pound ankle weights are also on the list. :)
I have this book and I use the workouts weekly. It is marketed towards brides, but the workouts are great and something I would continue to do. The book has images explaining how to do the different moves and then it gives you weekly workouts (3 days a week).
You can buy it on half.com for cheap:

Hey ladies,
I'm three and a half months out from my wedding day, and am realizing that my 'occasional' gym trips and 'attempting' to eat better really aren't cutting it. Has anyone used the book Buff Brides? Any reviews/comments? Basically I'm wondering if its worth it, if it requires you to buy any special equipment, or if its just a waste of $15.00 on Amazon.
Thanks!
