My fiance and I are getting married Sept 3rd in North Tonawanda! It being so close we have a lot of the vendors figured out so I have lots of advice (if you want to take it :D ).
florists: Dianne's Floral in NT. The girls that we worked with there we really nice. We are doing mostly gerbera daisies and no floral centerpieces. So, our flowers only came to $400
DJs: We are going with CJ sound. They were recommended by a friend of ours who gets married tomorrow :). i think for our 5 hours reception they were around $700 ish.
photographers: St clair studios. probably not the best photographer, but definitely one of the cheapest: the base package is $1400 and that includes all day coverage and reproduction rights.

Hi Buffalo Brides - I got married last August in Orchard Park. Here are some of the vendor's I used...
Photographers - Nickel City Studios www.nickelcitystudios.com. LOVED, LOVED, LOVED them... not only their photography but them as people too! On the expensive side, but worth EVERY penny. Seriously... I can't tell you how many friends said they hated their pictures after their wedding. You'll never get that day back and the photos last forever. Although, my husband and I lean towards the more artistic side, so we thought their style was well worth it. They'll make you look like movie stars and the worth venue ever look like heaven. They book up seriously fast.
Flower's - Maureen's in Buffalo. Can't go wrong. That place is a legend for wedding flowers. They can work with your budget and the type of flowers you were looking to incorporate.
Cake - Ohlson's Bakery - Fabulous... we got our wedding cake and a surprise Groom's cake there. They were reasonably priced and great to work with. They book up fast though.
Videographer - 17 Video Production - They did a great job, and the shoots are seriously like out of a movie. It's no point and shoot like your friend could take from the back of the room. I think it's 17videoproduction.com. Frank and his son, Frankie are really talented and we loved the final product.
DJ - Mike Margrum (spelling?) out of Hamburg. Everyone raved about him afterwards. He was a little hard to get a hold of (although he was a friend of my husbands family so I knew everything would be okay). Loved the simple touch of him giving us a CD of some of our wedding night songs.
What else do you want to know? Did you pick a venue yet?
Also, I have some stuff left over from my wedding that I will eventually put on Craiglist like 5"x5" glass vases, votive candle holders, galvanized tin pails among other things. Let me know if anything sounds appealing! I can send pictures.
Thanks for all the great ideas!! I checked out your videographer & they do some great work. Of course, the only weekend they are booked next summer....is our date. Oh well....back to the drawling board on that one!! I'm glad you liked that bakery, I was thinking about using them as well!! Good to have another reco!!

Don't know if you are still looking but here is who we used:
photographer: we also used FCI(fisher creative images) love them! have nothing but great things to say about them and we are in love with our pictures
florist: we also used Maureen's. I got nothing but compliments on our flowers and they were great to work with.
cake: we got our cake from Zillycakes. Zilly is awesome and the cake was incredible!!!!!!!
@sarbear2814: They are great photographers, aren't they? I am notting having them for my wedding (WAYYY over my budget!), but they did my senior portraits a few years ago.
@nutMeg13: yes they are great. they were my splurge. as soon as i saw their work i knew i wanted them. and the money was incredibly worth it.
saks photography is amazing, and they are located in the buffalo area, or you can try captured moments by kelly she too is amazing. I have worked with both.
DO NOT USE STARELITE PRODUCTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pleas read so this doesn't happen to you!!!!
I got married back in June and starlite productions did my wedding video. I picked them because them seemed nice and easy to work with and i liked the samples on their website. They told me it would take 6 months to get the video back so that would be Dec 25th. I wanted to arrange for pick up of the DVD while i was home for Christmas and I have been calling and leaving messages for 3 weeks now and they have not returned any calls or e-mails. I filed a complaint with the better buisness bureau aqnd they did not even respond to them! Do not book this company I am out a good amount of money and even more than that it doesn't look like I will get my video and that is priceless.
I am using Wozniak Photography based in Lancaster. They offer alot and even have a payment plan which makes things a lot easier when budgeting for a big wedding.
@FiFiKib: I haven't used Wendy Mitchell (as I haven't picked out a photographer yet), but I've seen some of her work and it's gorgeous!

Any new Buffalo Brides out there??? Any suggestions on florists/DJ's/photographers/video??? Just starting the search & could use whatever good, bad or other suggestions you may have.
