Has anyone built a wedding canopy? I don't want it to fall over. I need advice from someone who has ACTUALLY built a structure. I have some ideas, but don't want to reinvent the wheel. My girlfriend used pots with cement, but it started to tip so that idea is out unless you have modifications. I would also like to keep tethering to a min. if I can help it.
You guys are so smart! I know you'll come through.
- Its outside on grass that isn't perfectly level.
Here is a website I found that shows one way to make them. http://www.sethandamy.com/ceremony/chuppah.html. Also, my friend made one by putting birch trees in large plastic buckets filled with cement and then covered with fabric.
I'm interested in this too--glad you posted about it. I don't like any of the chuppah poles that my synagogue has and so I think that means we're making our own as well as the actual chuppah itself. :)

I have no practical advice but the gummi bears built one for their wedding. Here's the link to her post: http://www.weddingbee.com/2007/12/10/its-not-a-chuppah-ok-so-it-kinda-is/
