So I just came back from an interview in a different field than I’ve been looking and I’m bummed because I don’t think I did fantastic on it. Ok, but not great, so I don’t know that I’ll make it to the next round. I lost my job in the early part of 2010, got a part-time (no career growth, poor pay, no benefits) one in a different career about 6 months after that, but nada on a fulltime job. Got a great resume and gotten lots of interviews (and made it to final rounds before)…but they all end up going with someone with more experience. (And there are no positions posted for less experience.) I’ve started looking outside my field and this is my first interview in this new direction, but 1) I’d really prefer to stay in my original field and 2) ideally I am looking for something niche, and there aren’t a lot of opportunities like this one to come around. I worry that I’ll never get employed again or never really get my career back on track. My SO isn’t happy with his job, which doesn’t help – usually I’m optimistic about things, but not at the moment.
So…just hoping for some words to cheer me up or inspire me.
