I think a half up-do may contribute to the less-than-formal look. From the front, yes, it just looks like you’re wearing a half-ponytail.

The make-up is very light.  Did you say you wanted a very natural look?

I would say you find pictures of exactly what you want and make it clear that you want it replicated. And schedule your hair and make-up EARLY on your wedding day in case there needs to be adjustments.

First of all, I’m sorry you are disappointed with your trial, that is definitely not how you want to feel so close to your wedding. Did you mention to the MUA/stylist at the time that you weren’t happy? I actually like your hair, I don’t think the front looks stupid but maybe they can do something a little more structured rather than the one tendril up front. The make up is a little light for my taste.

@DanielleElizabeth:  What did the photos look like which you brought for insipiration? Or did you just go there with a “do whatever you want” mindset

It’s only a trial, you can do another one!

if it makes you feel better I was underwhelmed with my trial but the day of the wedding it was stunning….. I guess it was assumed this is just to figure out what you like/dont like/does this work/does it last all day etc…. and I will admit when I looked at the selfies I took, it was like wtf…

I had pictures from pinterest you name it…..

Now she did tell me to write note about what I wanted to fix etc…so I wrote down everything….sent her an email when I did my final confirmations and we decided to make sure there was lots more volume in the back… the make up needed to be more drama in the eyes because I wear more then they put on me to work etc etc…. and they ended up doing an amazing job!

They will do a more elaborate job on you the day of…. its just a tester to see what you want because unless you know them personally, they dont know what you normally look like day to day….so you just have to voice what you want changed.

@DanielleElizabeth:  Then I would call and tell them that. State you are unhappy with how it came out and feel the makeup was not what you were thinking and you felt rushed. Let them know you did not complain *because* you felt rushed (it will sound better, haha) and see what they suggest

The hair looks sort of prom like (sorry) I would suggest a full up do but something lower and that way she can really texture the sides.  Make up needs more…find pictures and show her, I did that with mine and it helped a ton.

I actually think you look very pretty, I love your hair! The make-up does look very natural, which of course would be a great thing if your wedding was a morning affair in a garden but for a formal wedding, I agree you could do with a bit more, as well as maybe a more formal hair style.

Look online for hair style and make-up tutorials (there are tons on you tube) and try to replicate some that you like yourself to see whether the look works for you, or maybe get a friend to help you. Then ask your stylist to replicate the look to a t on your wedding day. That way you won’t have to pay for expensive trials!

Same thing happened to me. I ended up using a different salon and stylist and was 100X happier with the result. It will cost a little more, but worth it in the long run!

@DanielleElizabeth: Oh, and about your make-up disappearing. A make-up artist told me once that she makes all of her clients have a full facial a few days before the wedding, complete with nutricious face masks and what not, to avoid the “disappearing foundation” effect. Apparently your skin gets “thristy” and “drinks up” foundation so in a few hours, it looks like you’re not wearing any.

Even if you don’t get a facial, I guess having a good sugar scrub and a home-made face mask (honey and oatmeal is good) could help take care of your problem!

OK so I will offer my honest opinion. Not trying to hurt your feelings but the hair stylist/makeup artist knows better! You may need to call and mention to her that you did not like the look. Do you get another trial before the wedding? She needs to try something different. I don’t wear makeup myself but I just did a DYI trial and it looked good considering. I think your makeup is very light. Unless you wanted a natural look she needs to make your eyes and lips slightly more dramatic. Not saying you need to look like a clown or anything but I feel like there is something missing.

You have a really pretty hair. Nice color and its healthy. There is so much she could have done with your hair! I agree that the back of the hair is pretty in curls. The front and sides needs a more polished/ structured look. Its not gathered correctly and it might need to be a little higher up. Also, the little piece in hanging in front makes the style look unprofessionally done. You did not pay for something you can do yourself! I would have flipped my lid and told her to “try again!” I tried to find you a couple styles that might fit your hair length. I love this first picture for your hair length. The last style pictured I included it for the front of the style to explain what I mean by how it could be gathered together in the front if you still want a similiar style as the one the hair stylist gave you. Good luck, keep us updated.
