I find myself suddenly having to replace all of my pants (i’ve gone up a size or two). I don’t even know where to start!
My office is business casual which means khakis are OK. I am looking for khakis and black dress slacks a well as office appropriate skirts and dresses. I don’t have a ton of money to spend so keep that in mind!
Please help! I am right on the edge of petite and regular at 5’4. I’m around a size 2-4.
Pictures would be most helpful 🙂

Is there a banana republic outlet or jcrew outlet near you? Or else, my favorite place for black pants in Nordstrom Rack.

I bought mine from Kohl’s. 🙂

Ive actually found decent pants at Target. I also really like New York and Company – they have good sales and their prices arent that bad. H&M sometimes has good stuff too. Do you have any outlet malls near you?

@SoontobeMrsA: Charlotte russe has a work line and the prices are pretty good. The have buy one get one 1/2 off sales all the time, that or they give you a discount ( 15-20 $ ) in the bag for next time.

Kohls, and NY&Co. I also love the Ann Taylor Loft outlet but don’t go there very much

@DesireeAnne: I used to buy everything at Kohls but lately I’ve found the quality not to be as good.
@kellybell: No, but I could make a trip to one. It’s not all that far if I can find some good deals. Is Nordstrom Rack in Nordstrom? Lol

New York and Company has sales all the time. I also go to the end of the month sales at Dillards. Not sure what’s in your area, but I occasionally get pieces from Belk’s department store also. NYC is my “go to” store for shopping though.

@PitBulLover: hehe I was just telling FI how my favorite old pair of work pants was from Target.
We have an outlet mall about two hours away. What stores besides Banana?

@SoontobeMrsA: I don’t have any pictures, but I had to just buy a whole new work wardrobe after getting my first real job!
I bought tons of pants at Kohl’s. I went there as a last ditch effort, because I was so disappointed with prices elsewhere. I have also bought 3 or 4 pairs at Target that are awesome. I refuse to spend more than twenty on work clothes, so I consider myself pretty frugal. Oh yeah, and don’t forget TJ Maxx or Marshall’s. Happy shopping!

I generally stick with TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, Kohls, JcPenney, and Macy’s.

@SoontobeMrsA: Gotcha. I know I had the hardest time shopping for mine for a cheap price. It’s why I just went with Kohl’s. My pants aren’t the worse, but I can see where you’re coming from with the quality issue.

@Anniebo: Wow you hit the nail right on the head! I love all that stuff 🙂
I always strike out at TJ Maxx/Marshalls on everything but shoes. I get the best shoes there 🙂 I just find they rarely carry my size.

If they are too pricey/ or not your taste in clothes both Penny’s and Kohl’s have business casual clothes and if you get a card and catch them during sales , you can save a TON of money. I bought $100 worth of church appropriate clothes there last year and got 2 pairs of pants 1 skirt and 3 shirts.
