Sooooo excited about my bustle!!! actually, bustles!! I have a cathedral length train in a Italian Satin ballgown dress. It is very heavy and was worred about how to bustle such a long, heavy train!! (I actually almost passed out after standing for 30 minutes under a hot light while the seamstress worked away on it!!) After looking at so many threads, and with help from the bees 🙂 … I decided I definitely wanted an over bustle to show off my sparkly train!!
The seamstress knew right away what type of bustle would suit my dress and went to work pinning it up to show me!! (GEES, a good seamstress is indispensable!! I am impressed!!) She first pinned up the train into an overbustle. She will use a loop on the middle of the train that will attach to a covered button of the same color that will be on the waist. you can see where its pinned. *Please excuse the tag sticking out. Should’ve cut it off!
Then she pinned two small bustles, one on each side that will be french underbustles. these will be done with silver hooks and eyes I think that are under the dress.
Oh, I love it! Its almost all the same length all around with a little hanging in the back. And it shows off the crystals and detail nicely.
Heres the pics:
Side pic above!
Back pic! Sorry about the wrinkles and tag sticking out!!
Another side pic. you can just barely see the pic ups on the sides. there are 2 french underbustles that wll be on the bottom of each side of the over bustle to make sure it is more the same length around. And that the fabric is not sticking out.
Anyone else have a nice over bustle with additional bustles?? I love mine!
Hope this helps anyone considering bustles 🙂
