I think it's okay to be clueless about this when you go for your fitting. I had no clue and my seamstress showed me three different bustles.
i tried to find mrs. nachos bustle, but failed.
anyways...i guess you are right, roxy821, i'll let them show me what they can do!
Yeah, I got nothing to help you. I do know that when I was in a friend's wedding in January she had a french bustle (I think? I'm also clueless), but it was the one that totally folds under and it had something like 15 little buttons with little loops we had to put together and took 7 or 8 minutes. I would take simplicity into consideration as well.
Your dress looks a lot like mine, although mine was Alfred Angelo. Here's how mine was bustled. I don't know what it's called or anything ... a friend did it :-)
The seamstress can pin all variety of bustles. Just ask. Actually, she'll probably pin the French - as shown in above photos - and you can try different heights with different numbers of hooks; and a traditional/American - imagine if you grab the train above the floor at the back center seam and pin it somewhere around the lower hip (center back seam). I love a low French bustle (like ddubzz), but it turned out my dress was too poofy to look like I pictured and the American bustle lies flatter and looks nice when it's pinned at my hips, not my butt. Definitely try all ways and look in the mirror.
i LOOOVE this site for bustles.... goes thru all the different kinds... so even though you dont know which one you want you can know the terminology!
ddubzz, your bustle is amazing.
I had a french bustle on mine as well. It probably weighed 15 lbs, but they put a band on the inside of the dress to help with the weight!
@fontgoddess:beautiful! that AA dress does look so much like the DB one I got, but I have to admit, the AA uses a richer fabric that I LOVE! You look gorgeous and that bustle looks simple and perfect!
Here is the link to Nachos bustle! I went to my alterations Friday and was PUMPED when she said she could do this! http://www.weddingbee.com/2010/01/06/like-a-glove/#more-124567
beautiful! i ended up going with an overbustle with 7 points in two tiers. 4 on the first and three on the second. it ends up looking like a 5 point overbustle. it's what the seamstess recommended for the dress...i didn't get pics, but will post once i have the dress.
i never realised there would be buttons all over my butt! lol.

I know there are different ways to bustle and some people like the wrist loop. Personally...I have no clue what to do. I'm going for my alteration fitting on Saturday, and don't want to be totally clueless about what I want. Here is the dress. What do you think I should do about bustling? As is, it has no bustle at all.
