It is possible- just talk with the person doing your alterations. I would ask for photo's of their work though, because a french bustle can be a little tricky with lace. My friend did one though and it turned out great!
Gummibear, check out this knot bio of Mrs.Julia.Goolia. If you scroll down halfway (or search on the page for the words "Good bustle shot") you'll see her bustle on a lace gown. I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but it's worth a shot!
