I’d say January to March since a lot of engagements happen between Christmas and New Years…and lets be honest, a girl is excited to pick her dress so it’s quite often one of the first purchases after the engagement.

I would recommend avoiding saturdays if at all possible.  Right now would be a busy time because new 2014 lines are coming out and there are lots of summer and fall brides.  I went to my salon a week before Christmas when my dress came in to pick it up and the salon was dead.  That would have been an amazing time to pick out a dress.  Unlimited time, space, and focus of all the consultants in the store.

The ladies at the salon where I bought my dress told me that January-March is their busiest time.

Yeah, I think the day of the week makes a much bigger difference than the month.  I always tried to go during weekdays because otherwise it was a zoo.

@weddingclueless:  I work part-time at David’s Bridal and we are very busy from Jan – April, especially on weeknights and weekends.

I think it goes around the releases of wedding dresses! I think new ones come out in April and October? So March/April/May/September/October/November will be busy because of brides looking for sample sales, while May/June/November/December will be busy because of brides looking to try on the new samples!

So I guess slow months would be December/January/February/July/August!

I started shopping in December and it was amazing – the stores were dead. (People obviously focusing their time and money on Christmas shopping!) But I didn’t buy a dress yet…so now I have to go do the rest of my shopping with a million other brides in the stores! Ugh…

The year that I worked at a bridal salon I was hired in January because it is by far the busiest time of the year for dress buying. So many people have just gotten engaged over the holidays, girls are waiting for the next year’s line to come out, and the order times are okay for summer weddings. I would recommend if you can to not go from January to March, but if you have to, I would definitely avoid Saturdays or just weekends in general. Obviously you can’t always avoid weekends depending on your schedule. If this is the case, make sure you schedule an appointment and take one either at the beginning of the day or at the end, that way the salon won’t be swamped.

I think the wording on your poll and the title of the post are potentially conflicting. To me the best season to buy would be Oct-Dec because the salons aren’t crazy, but if you are looking for new dresses then Jan-Mar is a better bet.
