I have been whining and whining about this since I got my wedding bands! They're just sitting there....and I wanna wear them.

I have put them on often (usually when the FI is not home as he gets mad at me) and my finger gets really swollen...yeah my jewellers LIED when they said that they wouldnt be to 'small' and not make my fingers look super fat and chunky (yes the dreaded, fat and chunky finger)

So I figured that wearing my bands (I have 2 to frame my ring) that I would be getting my finger adjusted to wearing them so it wouldnt look as fat and gross...or am I just doomed?

How taboo is it to wear your wedding bands before the big day? I hear its really bad luck (I don't really believe in stuff like that...) but...is it that horrible?

Or, do you have any advice for me and my fat chunky fingers?!

I'm worried about the same thing - my ring being too small when we add the other two pieces.

Unfourtunately I've heard the same thing, totally bad luck to wear your ring around ahead of time.  I think that over time, your finger will adjust, I know my finger is totally deformed now where I wear my engagement ring, but at least I don't have the :chunky" finger around it anymore.

I'm not superstitious, but I will not be wearing my ring till after the wedding. Sure I'll try it on, but I want to save that for when we are married (and the rest of my life!)

Ehh...I don't believe in those superstitions either. DH even saw a picture of my wedding dress (accidentally) before the wedding - no big deal.

I know exactly how you feel!  DH and I had my wedding band designed and completed by  August of 2007.  We didn't get married until November 2008!  It killed me to have this beautiful band that I wanted SO badly to pair with my E-ring - and couldn't! I used to wear it around the house, folding laundry, reading, emailing, etc.  DH busted me a couple of times and finally, we (read: he) decided that it would be best to put the ring in our safety deposit box until the wedding.  It made it a lot easier because I wanted to wear it all the time :)

Regarding the dreaded ring fat...I find that my fingers swell when I sleep and are most swollen when I wake up.  By noon, they are better - not sure why...  I've thought about going up a 1/2 size in my rings but I feel they might be too loose then...

My FI wants me to wear the band. "I bought them both at the same time! So I want you to wear them now! Otherwise I wouldn't have spent the money on both right NOW!"

Okay, so he's a little clueless about traditions...I wear the band on my right hand occasionally. I'm not superstitious at all, so it's just another pretty piece of jewelry.

If yours are making your finger swell, though, you should have them resized. I don't think you should try to "get used to" swelling. I don't know, that's just me though.

LOL. As you know, my FI lives in Georgia so I *could* wear them all i want! I feel like a fraud after some time though, haha. I put mine on around the house to admire them tho!. I did have to wear them to make sure they were comfortable for long periods of time (an hour or so) and make sure they didn't need to be stretched. FOr me, i have 3 bands, so they told me the top one might have to be stretched a fraction bigger so I didn't get muffin finger. But it's actually quite comfy. I just keep staring because it's excessively blingy....But I wanna weaaaaaaar it! : wedding Icon Razz. Just get it stretched 1/4 of a size. It should fix it.

Since you have 3 rings, including your e-ring, you may have to get the top one resized a smidge.

I do have this ugly raised callus at the base of my finger where my E-ring sits though. This is common with less delicate jewelry.

sigh, ejs - you get exactly what I am talking about with the whole fat finger thing. I specifically asked the jeweller "should I get the top one a bit bigger so my fingers dont look nasty" and she said no, I dont think so, it should smooth itself all out...figuring they were the pro's I agreed. I got both bands the same since as my ering (all 5.25) and sure enough my top gets that nice 'muffin top' look.

I have a problem though. My rings are eternity diamond bands. They say its very hard to resize them...so thats another issue..

@mrsk2b - ha ha that totally sounds like what I am going to end up doing, wearing it around all the time...maybe I should lock it away. My FI's parents have this huge safe so maybe I will stash them there...sigh. makes me all ansty!

omg i just got mine this weekend and all i can think about is going home and "trying it on" you know... just to make sure. I won't wear my two rings together- I plan to spread out the bling so I figure i should get used to it right?

I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE! THANK GOD! I have had my wedding band since I had my e-ring bc FI got them at the same time and yes I put it on alot, when he is not around. I cant wait to wear it all the time, it really enhances my e-ring and I love it, its so pretty! My e-ring is a 5 1/2 but I actually got my band a size larger since I fig its sitting behind my e-ring not a big deal and since its a thinner band it thens to fit a bit more snug. Plus I plan to be preggers within the next year and I still want to be able to wear my ring when I am all puffed out. I say if your bands are not comfortable or you dont like they way they look get them sized, if you can, they way you want.

nope you'er certainly NOT the only one! I have a feeling I might be wearing mine more than I should ;) I just can't help it! It just looks so perfect all together (minus the puffy fat fingers)

So does anyone know if I can actually size a diamond eternity band? I was told I couldnt so be sure about what size I wanted (well I thought I was sure since the jeweller said it would be fine, but obviously they were WRONG)

I think it could make a difference if I just went up a smidgen on the top band (the one above my e-ring)

Has anyone had this experience with having to resize a diamond eternity band?

So I take it your diamonds go all the way around or do they stop anywhere? If they go all the way around, you will lose some of the diamonds I presume and it might take a little bit longer. Since your only going up a smidge it should not be too much of an issue I presume.

Your finger really will eventually deform and fit the ring, I promise. Mine did! I couldn't wear mine together before the wedding though, my wedding band is a guard so it didn't look too pretty. I just bought a plain gold band and wore it until our wedding day since my rings were soutered (sp is way wrong) and I felt like I shouldn't wear it before the big day.

This post made me itch with desire to wear mine last night. So i wore them at home last night....and almost forgot to take them off! I almost wore them to the gym!! EEK

So, Chantellamus, are you going to show us these bad boys with your e-ring? I know you have 2 sparkly bands like me and a gorgeous Tacori, i'm just dying to see it all together! I'm the only one I know with two diamond bands. I feel so flashy, lol. Or, as Fergie says, "glamorous"

Your jeweler is retarded, they should have had you get them bigger. No offense, but IMO, um, DUH! You just got your rings from them, and if any other ring was too tight, they'd fix it right?! If they're uncomfortable/too tight, you'll get muffin finger and then during the summer when they swell you'll want to take them off and not wear them. Not the point of having them in the first place They should be able to reorder you a new one (and sell the current one in store) or expand it a smidgen. Im sure they're saying they "cant" because it's a big pain. Just tell them that the jeweler said you wouldn't need to get it bigger so you *trusted* her opinion and the top one is too tight on your finger and you CAN'T wear it. They might have to pop a tiny diamond out of the bottom and stretch the metal in that one particular spot. I'm not sure how that works. But i doubt they're just gonna say Sorry, Charlie.

LoL, you know those old men who obviously weigh a LOT more than they did when they got married and their rings are like, 2 whole sizes too small and they have major finger muffins? Well, we don't want that now, do we? I hate that! It's like squeezing into a pair of jeans you wore in high school...20 years ago But I wanna weaaaaaaar it! : wedding Icon Razz

ha ha ha Ejs, yes...no I don't want to be like those old men who have gained weight - omg what a thing to think about! ;)

I can't believ you went and wore your rings last night! tee hee! thats awesome...I didn't want to take them off last night but my FI gave me the worst stink eye known to man and MADE me take them off. he got quite mad actually. oh well....I guess I have to be more sneaky and do it when hes not around! ha ha

I will have to figure this out with the jeweler, maybe I will go back there tonight or something. they know me by name I come in so often...as well as at the jewellers where I got my Tacori...I am like a mad pest! I am also getting my grandmothers ering made into a diamond band (since her ring is just a cluster of small diamonds) and use that occationally as one of my 2 bands...yeah lots and lots of rings! ha ha

I will get some pics of the rings up soon, tonight perhaps! I wanted to last night but I kind of got uncomfortable showing my nasty puffy finger with all those beautiful rings!

**Chantellamus*** I hope you feel a bit better after all of these responses admitting to "premature wedding band use" ;)  !!!

Regarding the ring fat... I totally understand what you are talking about with the 3 stacked rings.  I have another band that I occasionally pair with my wedding set and it is the same size as my E-ring and Wedding band (all size 7).   When I wear all three, the top band is definitely tighter than when I wear it alone or with just one other ring.  The only time I DON"T get muffin top with all three is in the middle of winter!!

WHen looking at eternity bands, I was told to be very sure about my ring size as it would be incredibly difficult if not impossible to resize them.  That being said, I cannot believe that a professional jeweler would advise against a larger size top band!!!  ALthough it might not be possible to resize your eternity band, is there any way you can simply exchange the ring for the exact same ring in a 1/2 size bigger?  Presumably it would be an even exchange since the ring has (almost) never been worn.  I would really try to do this - otherwise that stupid muffintop is going to bother you forever!!!

Sausage lady! - I should just change my alias to 'sausage lady', no more Chantellamus ha ha ha kick me while I am down! But I wanna weaaaaaaar it! : wedding Icon Razz toooo funny!

Surpisingly though my finger doesnt hurt from that. I dont think they're 'too tight' persay, i just really do have these massive knuckles. but YES the top one does have to be bigger (to avoid whats happening above - *shudders*) The e ring and the bottom ring feel fine just when I put the top one on, I think all my fat from my knuckles gets together and has a party on my fingers, its a big gathering, you know! maybe it looks worse (waaaay worse) than it feels ha ha

I got my top ring 'fixed' they cannot re-size the enternity band so all they did was shave it down in the inside and made it thinner. They also will not exchange as it was a 'special order'

Its a bit better but I still have nasty fat fingers. It makes me SO sad that I have these beautiful rings that my Fi spoiled me with, and now I feel too self concious about wearing them - when I actually am allowed.

I also dont think it's the fact that the rings been to be bigger - because when they get bigger they feel like they're falling off my finger (my e-ring is a 5.25, when I wear it alone and my finger is not swollen it feels like its going to fly right off) and when all 3 rings ARE on together, its comfortable, not tight at all - I hate you fat knuckles for ruining my wedding bands! don't they do like knuckle LIPO or anything?! MAN!

I just don't know what to do. I am so sad about it!

I used to have the same issue with my promise ring before my FI and I got engaged. Turned out I was allergic to the metal (10K white gold). That was easily fixed by upgrading to 18k.

Definitly look like it is worse on the top of your finger, like they were saying. looks painful. You should talk to a doctor maybe? Or see if you can exchage and find out if you are allergic to the metal.

Your ring is fantasticlly beautiful!  Ususally I am not a fan of the whole two wedding band thing but I love yours!!!  When you tried all 3 on at your jeweler what did they say?  Do they think it is too small?

I'm totally with you about wanting to wear my wedding band ALL the time.  My husband was the same way.  He was the one I would catch just staring at them!
