Does anyone know where I can find a gallery of buttercream wedding cakes?

I have no clue what I want for a wedding cake and have my appointment this weekend, but all I know is that I want buttercream frosting and not fondant. But I have no clue what can be done with buttercream.

I'd be interested in seeing some too.  I plan on using butterceam and want a textured piping effect - something that makes the cake look really soft and fluffy :P

These are some cake pictures I saved for inspiration:

I'm in love with the third cake down. They are all so pretty!

A lot of cakes that are fondant can be made in buttercream. They won't look exactly the same, but a good baker can get buttercream to look almost as smooth. Generally, you can't create the same structural or sculptural elements in buttercream that you can get with fondant, but you can usually get fondant accents on a buttercream cake (like fondant ribons around buttercream layers).

For example, my inspiration cake was in fondant:Buttercream Frosting Cakes : wedding Cake Inspiration

And my actual cake was buttercream:Buttercream Frosting Cakes : wedding Buttercream Cake

Can you do the same type of icing detail with cream cheese frosting as you can with buttercream?  I really like that pink ribbony looking cake, but I don't like buttercream.

@Miss Biner - I'm not a baker, but I would assume it would work.  I think as long at the frosting is soft and can be squeezed through a cake decorating tip, they could do that same thing.

Good to know.  I'm going to save that ribbony cake picture.  Way too cute to not ask about.  MMMMM.  I'm so hungry for some sweets!
