Cake tasting is in 2 weeks, and I need ideas for cake designs! Not really into fondant… doesn’t taste too yummy to me, but I think it looks nicer than buttercream. Any buttercream cakes out there that provide the polished structure of a fondant?

@CaliBeeBride0813: Oh there are so many of them that look polished w/out fondant. AND i just wanted to say that I’ve seen tons of cakes and fondant doesnt always=polished if its a bad baker doing the fondant lol. Go on pinterest and look at Style Me Pretty’s cake board! Tons of cakes in there!
ETA a good baker can make buttercream almost look like fondant.

I would do buttercream! I agree, fondant isn’t too tasty. That being said, I’m sad that ours is buttercream because I’m not a huge buttercream fan. Oh well, at least one of our cupcakes has cream cheese frosting! :] Oh and I’m pretty sure there is usually buttercream between the fondant and the cake? So it is easy to peel the fondant off the slice of cake if you/guests don’t want to eat it. :]
