They tell you the button down shirt so that you don't have to pull it over your hair messing it up. I think it depends on if you are having an up do or not. Curls you want to stay tight or not.
Congrats on the wedding!
Thanks! I plan to have an updo...guess I'll be doing the button up thing. Maybe before I head over to the church to get ready, I'll change from the button up to my "bride" robe. hehehe. Can you tell I'm excited about wearing that?
Oh I love those bride robes! Where in Texas are you headed? I'm in Houston!
Kerrville! It's near San Antonio...small and weird. hehe
Yep I know where that is! We have property in Gruene so we drive through all those areas. We are getting married in Fredericksburg in April! :)
So can't wait!
Good luck and have fun!
i think it depends what the tank is like. the last time i got my hair done for a wedding i wore a stretchy tank top, and i was able to take it off the other way, down my legs instead of over my head. you don't want anything to touch your pretty hair!
Yes. If you have a regular tshirt or tank top, it will mess your hair and makeup when you take it off so you'll have to either cut the tshirt down the front or get the hair/makeup retouched. A button up shirt won't be anywhere near your hair or face when it is removed.
You could wear your robe (uh, how decent is it? are you going to the salon or having a stylist come to your house?) for your hair appt if you'd rather; that will slip off the same way a button down would. :)
I have every intention of stealing one of J's soft button downs for the day of, since mine are all fitted and less than comfy, haha.
You should be able to get a tank top off by going down rather than over the head!
Yes, why risk it? especially after all that time, you want to make sure to leave it untouched.
wear one you don't like much, and if you have trouble getting it off just cut it off! don't worry about a 6$ tank top after you spend 150$ getting your hair done.
I would definitely wear a button up shirt because you don't want to have to get everything redone after you take off the shirt. Alot of tank tops don't have wide enough necks to be able to step out of them by sliding them down your body, without stretching them to the point that you can't wear it again. Plus, undoing buttons is much easier and quicker than stretching and maneuvering a tank top so that it doesn't go over your head at all.
another solution is a wide neck opening, like those off shoulder tees that you can easily take off without messing up hair and makeup!
though i always recommend button down/snaps or robes! :)

hey Hive! I leave tomorrow to head to Texas for the wedding...eek! I'm trying to decide, do I really need to wear a button-up shirt to get my hair done? Typically, I wear a tank-top under wrap shirts/button-ups so can I still wear a tank top?
What do you all recommend?
