I have not listed a home but when we were buying our home we did look at Isoldmyhouse.com

From a buyers point of view it was horrible. We were unable to gain any information about the house of even where it was located. We would have loved to use this service because the houses are listed cheaper than those with a broker.

Good luck, hope you find a good service to use to advertise your house. Can you simply list open houses in the paper? This was a great way that we found open houses.

You can probably list it on craigslist.  Just realize that the buyers may have a real estate agent so you still might have to pay a commission.  If you had your own agent, they would split the commission so it wouldn’t really save much money there.  You need to be very agressive about pricing your property accurately or you are going to miss out on a lot of people who think that it is overpriced.

I’ve never used “Buy Owner, ” but sold my husband’s old house (before we were married) and am in the process of trying to sell our lake property by owner. I just made up my own website on the property for cheap, listed them on craigslist and our local online classifieds, as well as told EVERYBODY that we were trying to sell. Facebook is also a great tool! I will admit, it is a total pain in the ass, but for me, it’s worth it to keep the money they would be making on commission in my own pocket.

Oh, and prepare to have loads of real estate agents calling you to try and get you to list with them. They will even be sneaky and say, “I have a really interested client, but I can’t help you unless you list the property with me.” They will also pretend to be a client. Realtors will try to convince you that you will never sell your house without one. You definitely can, but I will say again, it is a real pain sometimes to do it yourself.
