My younger sister is a bridesmaid, and her little girl will be almost 1 the day of the wedding.
We opted against having her as a flower girl, since it’s really hard to expect a child that small to be in a wedding, even if she is just pulled in a wagon.
However, I thought it would still be cute if she had a fun, fancy dress that coordinated somewhat with the bridal party- especially for pictures.
That being said, I don’t really think that it’s fair to ask my sister to buy something special for her, especially since she’s already spending $200 on a BM dress, not to mention hair, shoes, etc.
Would it be out of line to buy a dress for my niece?
Here is the dress I’m considering.
And here are my bridesmaids/flower girl dresses

I don’t think it’s out of line at all. I think your sister will really appreciate it, but I would definitely ask her first. I also think the dress is adorable and matches really well.

@bellagio: Exactly what she said. As a mom, I’d truly appreciate the effort.

I’m glad that you all agree that it wouldn’t seem out of line to buy it for her.
I know Sister A and I had asked months ago I was expecting Miss L to have a specific dress, and she let me know then that she didn’t have a lot of money to spend on extras
I just feel like if I’m saying that she has to have something specific, it’s only fair for me to purchase it.

I love all of those dresses! And I’m sure your sister would appreciate if you bought the dress, I’m sure she has to spend a lot on her baby with just the daily things.

I would think she would think it was a nice gesture for you to buy her baby a cute dress :). I can’t see how she would think it was weird!

awww. I think your BM dresses are so pretty!
I love the bottom dress the best if it comes in an infant size.
I think you ask your sister! If I were I would be honored. 🙂

@Gerbera: Thank you! I love them too!
The bottom dress is my flower girl’s dress. (It’s my favorite too, btw)
We got it from J.Crew, and they unfortunately don’t carry infant sizes (it’s a shame, Crewcuts styles are adorable), but even if they did, I wouldn’t spend that much on a dress for a baby. My flower girl is 8 and does pageants, so her mom was willing to spend more on her dress b/c she’ll reuse it.
The dress I have picked out for my niece is $45 at Nordstrom. I just love how bright and cheery it is.
