Are you buying a gift for your boss (or your FH/DH’s boss) this holiday?
I have a new coworker and she is really excited to buy the boss a gift, normally I wouldn’t do anything for my boss as I don’t really like her. But I don’t want to bust the new girl’s bubble, sigh.
What do you do at your workplace?

Oh hell no. I don’t buy the boss anything. And he doesn’t get me anything either.
However he does get gifts from others, which I enjoy stealing. Last year I stole a can of Godiva pretzels someone bought him. I ate the whole can and left a note saying “sorry.”

I would never buy my boss a gift from just me unless we were friends outside of work beforehand or something.
This year, we are doing a group gift though. People don’t have to contribute, and there was a small suggested amount.

I work for a federal judge in a very small courthouse, so there are only 4 people in our chambers. My co-law clerk and I go in on a gift together for Judge. This year we’re getting him a wine and cheese basket that costs about $60. We also went in on a gift for the judicial assistant that was $40. And I’ll buy my coworker something as well, but we’re friends outside of work, so I don’t consider this a work-related present. If I worked at a law firm, I definitely wouldn’t get the parnters anything, so I think it just depends on your work environment.
Judge also gets us gifts, so it would be pretty crappy of us not to get him one too! This year we’re getting embossers that say “Library of Boston Bee” to stamp in our books for our home libraries. I’m pretty stoked. haha
