- Wedding: September 2013
I got married a week ago now and am so happy to be a Mrs!! Our wedding cost quite a bit as most weddings do but we really tried to save where we could. One of those savings was on my dress. I bought my dress on sale and then had it altered. My dress cost me the equivalent of $250 and with alterations it cost about $450. I couldn’t justify spending an absolute fortune on a dress that I am only going to wear once but kudo’s to those that do (I think I may be a bit of a cheapskate but prefer the term budget-savvy!). Here are a few of my before and after photo’s for those brides that are in a similar situation and don’t have a fortune to spend on a dress. My number one tip would be to find a dress that you like the shape of and structure of at a good price and make alterations to suit you.
Before – front
Before – back of dress
After- front of dress – changed neckline to sweetheart, removed straps and removed frill.
After – back of dress (removed zip and added lace up)
GOOD LUCK and HAVE FUN planning your wedding!! Remember the important things! Its one day but you get to spend the rest of your life with your man as husband and wife!
