    @amusedfiancee:

    I just got a pronovias gown for half off because it is a 2012 and discontinued…It is also a size 10 and I am a size 4 in regular clothes, but a size 6 in wedding dresses.  I would say Pronovias def runs small, just like any wedding dresses.  You are safe getting a size 1 to 2 sizes bigger than you actually are and altering it after you try it on in person.  I also would get alterations around where you live, not before you get it.

    ALSO BE CAREFUL ABOUT BUYING A FAKE GOWN!  I would not go with your first or 2nd option you mentioned, if it seems like the buyer is being shady.  DO NOT buy from them.   I would go with the girl who is selling it used, and got it on size down altered.  Yes you can alter it one more size down to fit you.  I bought a sample dress and couldn’t be happier, I mean I got a 2012 dress 1/2 off!  Women who are weird about wearing a dress someone else has worn or tried on are high maintence, ridiculous and stupid! LOL…It doesn’t matter if people have tried it on, nobody will know that and nobody will care:)  Plus I’d rather save $2,000 and get a dress someone has tried on:)

    Which Provanis gown is it?  That could also determine what size you are.  For instance I have a small waist, 27 inches, and then big hips( a size 4/6) and DD boobs, so some of their gowns, if they have no stretch in them, I would need a bigger size in.

    @amusedfiancee:  I’m picking out my authentic Pronovias gown on Saturday so I’ll let you know if it comes with tags or anything.

    @amusedfiancee:  If money isn’t a problem, then I would go get it from the flagship store.  The other stores don’t seem ideal.  And I would not get a previously altered dress that you KNOW you will need to alter again.  There’s just too much risk.

    It might be cheaper in another area–do you have family in another area you’ll be visiting any time soon?

    I live in Boston, but bought my dress in Vermont, where everything is cheaper!

    But I would buy the real-deal new.

    @amusedfiancee:  OMG I think I know exactly what dress you are wanting to get!  I bought the pronovias dress with feathers too, by mine is a ballgown.  Literally a girl bought the same dress you are buying the same time I bought mine.  It wasn’t a sample sale.  It was just a sale at this place called IDA’s in Kansas City, they had like 100 gowns for 70% 2 weeks ago!  They do those sales all the time because the dresses are either discontinued, sample dresses, or they just need room for more wedding dresses coming in.  The place is HUGE!  They have every high end designer there.    This is my Pronovias dress:

    I will tell you the girl that bought he dress I believe you are getting,”with feathers on the chest then, lace all the way down? and it is fitted right?”  Well she was a size 0 and was really worried because, the dress she was buying was a size 6, which is fine, because she could get it altered…HOWEVER because the way the lace design was, all around the dress, she was worried taking that much cloth,lace in on the side of the dress would mess up the entire, look and design of the dress.  So the alterations lady came out and said she didn’t know if it would mess up the design, until they tried it:(  Is this your dress?

    My alterations are going to be around $300, but I am also adding more feathers to my dress, because on the back, some got messed up.
