Ladies – I need help, please. Does anyone have advice to share on how much booze I need to buy for my wedding reception? We are just having beer, wine (red and white), and champagne available all night. I have tried several online drink calculators, which are really helpful – but I would LOVE some personal experiences.
How much did you buy/intend to buy?
Did you run out of anything?
What was leftover at the end of the night?
What do you wish you had done differently?
Any experiences would be much appreciated! Thank you.

How many people are you having? I can tell you the estimate I got for 150 people if you’d like, but it also includes liquor.. There really is no way to know unfortunately…

@speulie: I’d love to see the estimate you got, we’re expecting about the same number of people and are buying our own booze. Thanks!

We used the evite drink calculators and bought additional…we had tons and tons left over. The evite drink calculator is fairly accurate I think.

I would ask your caterer and/or people at the wine store/brewery etc. We stuck with what our caterer suggested. I can’t remember the #’s right now but can find out. We definitely would have run out if we’d had our estimated rsvp yes’s. We bought enough beer/wine/champagne for 120 but only had 75 day of. By the end of the night there were only a few open bottles and practically no beer or champage. We had extra soda but that’s it. Always buy more!

@olive25 – I am SO glad to hear that! I tried the evite calculator and the Real Simple calculator. The evite one seemed really close to to what I figured, but the RS calculator wanted me to buy DOUBLE.
I am having 100-105 adults. Beer, Wine (red and white), and champagne all night. We are also having a signature cocktail during coctail hour. I imagined we would need 1 bottle wine or champagne OR one six-pack of beer per person. That does not count the signature cocktail, so I guess however many we have of those (probably around 70 drinks) will be extra. I know that everyone will drink 5 glasses of wine or 6 beers, but I hope that will give me some wiggle room!

We recently gave a reception for 250 people serving beer, wine, and soft drinks. We called the wine shop called Total Wine. The people there were very helpful and also agreed to buy back what we didn’t use. We purchased 6 1.5 litre bottles of each white, red, and zinfandel wines. We purchased 12 cases of beer – 4 cases of 3 different brands. We did have extra, but I always would rather not run out. The extra but not too much. We brought it home, because we have another wedding to host in a few months. If you have a Total Wine store near you, they are very helpful.
