wouldn't that be against the law? I thought you needed a liquor license to have alcohol served at venues.
The only way I think you'd be able to get around it is to have it at a park or your house.
Schaar's Bluff let's you BYOB if you purchase a licsence through Dakota County Parks. Plus it's my favorite venue of all time. http://www.co.dakota.mn.us/LeisureRecreation/CountyParks/Locations/SpringLake/GatheringRoom.htm
Thanks for the feedback! We found a couple more places we are going to check out, the carousell works in big lake and murzyn hall in columbia heights. Its not illegal to have your own alcohol as long as you are not selling it. Open bar is okay though. If we wanted to charge people then we would need a license.
Schaar's Bluff looked beautiful, unfortunately it is too small for guest list. Thanks for the input though!!
Our Reception is at the Carousell Works in Big Lake, I love it there because you can BYOB and they have it set up with a local liquor store that will deliver and pick up the kegs as well if you go with them! I thought they were reasonably priced for such a great hall, and Diane is awesome to work with so far. If you are interested they will be having an open house on april 22nd!
Good Luck! i just wanted to put in my .02 :-)
We are planning on going to the Carousell Works on the 22nd too! We went and toured the site and really liked it! Diane was super helpful as well!!
Yes, Profile Event Center does! You bring in your own booze and bartenders. You just can't charge the guests for any drinks.
I am getting married at the Gale Woods Farm - in Minnetrista. You can bring in your own beer and wine - just no hard liquor.
My BYOB List
Circa Gallery ~ DT Minneapolis, Uppercut Boxing Gym ~ NE Mpls, Riley Jacques Barn ~ Eden Prarie, Polish National American Hall ~ NE Minneapolis, Silverwood Park ~ St. Anthony MN (amazing new space), Intelligent Nutrients ~ NE Minneapolis I think I have a few more but I can't remember them right now. I hope this helps!

Sorry, there are no users yet.
I have been scouring the internet trying to find a place to hold a reception in the MPLS area that lets you bring in your own alcohol and I am having very little luck. We are looking to have a casual reception and we will be saving a TON of money by bringing in our own booze since we can get everything at cost. Planning a wedding on a tight budget is getting to be quite stressful! Any tips on a location or money saving tips in general would be VERY much appreciated!!!
