i am thrilled to report that i have finished c25k week 5 🙂 i had to do day 3 twice–i tried it on monday, but it was after a heavy night of drinking (okay 3 nights of drinking..) so i had to stop twice for like 2 minutes each. i about died doing this run. i figured it would take me a week to be able to do day 3.
BUT today i managed to complete the 20 minute run with no problems. i actually ended up doing about 22 minutes, because i was feeling okay and i decided to run the total 2 miles, since i was at like 1.8 after 20 minutes (im a little slow). crazy to think i thought the 5 minute runs were torture just a few weeks ago.
but i’m THRILLED i’ve gotten this far and am definitely motivated to continue…..if you’re thinking about doing the program, i would HIGHLY encourage trying it.

I just finished week 1… hahaha sounds so funny! It’s actually been quite easy for me, but I know that will change quickly 🙂

@cecullaton: w1 & 2 were pretty easy for me..i’ve been working out for like a year (bike and elliptical), so i wasnt completely out of shape. w3 got a little tougher, but it really wasn’t until w4 & 5 that i found it a real challenge 🙂
GOOD LUCK!! just keep with it…i’m still on a high from completing the run yesterday!

Ok you guys, I am about to do my 3rd run for week 1 and it is seriously killing me. I have no idea how you do it! I’m not that overweight… I am terrified of week 2 🙁 and then yesterday someone said you have to run 35 miles to lose 1 pound and I’m not sure if it is worth it!!!

That’s awesome! Yay!
@ten.ten.ten Who said you have to run 35 miles to lose one pound? You have to burn 3500 calories (can be a combination of eating less calories and burning some thru excercise if you want). Running in one hour will burn approximately 500-900 calories for newer runners. So you can easily lose 1-2 lbs per week (healthy amount to lose weekly) by running 3 days per week and lowering your caloric intake. It’s worth it! Don’t give up! 🙂

@ten.ten.ten: GOOD LUCK! stick with it. you can do it and it is worth it. post on the ‘bee if you need encouragement–i’ve gotten a lot of support on the fitness threads.
i’ve only lost like 2 lbs so far (im not overweight), but the biggest thing is that MY JEANS DONT FIT. i’ve probably gone down almost a size in 5 weeks. i notice the weight loss in my stomach when my fiance pointed our that my hip bones were sticking out a little bit this past weekend. my legs are also looking a little more toned, which i love 🙂
