After I get married, I would like to drop my middle name and use my maiden name as my new middlle name, then take my new husband’s last name. (Kat middle maiden –> Kat maiden new last). I have no connection to my middle name, and I would like to hold onto my maiden somehow because it is pretty unique.
However, I’ve looked into it and it seems that here in CA, changing your middle name is not included in the simplified name change post-wedding. Apparently changing your middle as well as last name constitutes a full legal name change. Is this true? Does anyone have any experience doing this in CA (or any other states where it works this way)?
