I've been to a few.
Make sure you have a place to go after the ceremony, and COMPLETELY exit there - after weddings, people want to give you big hugs and such, and if you don't hightail it out of there, and then come back in later, it can get a little crazy and crowded. I've been to some where the bride and groom didn't process out, and it was just a wall of people trying to get to them.
It does add a much more casual air to the wedding, and if that's what you're going for - then it is right for you. I'm personally not a big fan - I think it feels like "dinner theatre / wedding," but that's my own thing.

We wanted to have our ceremony at our reception venue, because many guests are coming from out of state and it is a little out of the way (suburb north of indianapolis.) There is one main ballroom so generally, they set it up like a chapel, then you go to the smaller room for cocktail hour, then back in the main room which has been flipped. This is all well and good but we couldn't afford a cocktail hour! So she suggested a cabaret style wedding, and since we want a more casual ceremony were were game. We are excited! (If you don't know what it means, it's like you walk in and sit like you would at a reception, but for the ceremony. Everyone watches it (there is a stage area for us to stand) from their tables and then the reception can immediately start.)
Anyone seen/been to a cabaret style wedding and saw things they liked/didn't like? Or have any pictures? All we know is that we will definitely be doing a program/menu booklet together.
